A low temperature co-fired ceramic (LTCC) material system has been used to develop a protype field emission cathode structure for use in an experimental magnetron oscillator. The structure is designed for used with 30 gated field emission array (GFEA) die electrically connected through silver metal traces and electrical vias. To approximate a cylinder, the cathode structure (48 mm long and 13.7 mm in diameter) is comprised of 10 faceted plates which cover the GFEA dies. Slits in the facet plates allow electron injection. The GFEA die (3 mm × 8 mm) are placed in axial columns of 3 and spaced azimuthally around a cylindrical support structure in a staggered configuration resulting in 10 azimuthal locations. LTCC manufacturing techniques were developed in order to fabricate the newly designed cathode with seven layers wrapped to form the cylinder with electrical traces and vias. Two different cathode wrapping techniques and two different via filling techniques were studied and compared. Two different facet plate manufacturing techniques were studied. Finally, four different support stand configurations for firing the cylindrical structure were also compared with a square post stand having the best circularity and linearity measurements of the fired structure.  相似文献

It is well known that the terminal velocity of a drop settling in a viscous fluid is impacted by surface tension gradients. These gradients can develop because of nonuniform accumulation of surfactant on the surface as a result of a number of transport mechanisms. Here, a surfactant transport model based on a sorption-limited Frumkin framework is used to describe surfactant transport in the presence of both surface convection and diffusion at low Reynolds and capillary numbers. Constants characterizing surfactant transport in the Frumkin framework are experimentally determined and used to predict aqueous drop velocities with varying surfactant concentrations and volumes. Computation is carried out by satisfying equations governing mass, momentum, and interface species conservation. Experiments demonstrate qualitative and quantitative agreement between predicted and measured drop velocities. It is shown that surface remobilization explains some observed trends in measured velocity as the drop size decreases. © 2018 American Institute of Chemical Engineers AIChE J, 65: 294–304, 2019  相似文献

Abstract

This research investigates the influence of the commercial photochromic dye concentration, expressed as a percentage, and polymer type and their interaction on the photocoloration properties of the as-spun and drawn fibres regarding the melt-spinning process. As-spun fibres made of polypropylene, polyethylene and polyester were spun with different percentages of the photochromic dye, drawn, tested and analysed under a factorial experimental design using appropriate experimental and statistical methods. According to the analyses and by using an independent source of ultraviolet irradiation and traditional colour measurement instrumentation of the degree of photocoloration and background colour, the most effective and significant parameter influencing the as-spun fibre’s photocoloration properties are the polymer type; the dye percentage effect was noted in the degree of photocoloration. The effects of the multi-stage hot-drawing process on the photocoloration properties of the drawn polypropylene and polyethylene fibres were characterised and statistically modelled. The dyed fibres showed reversible photochromism, developing pronounced colours from weak background colours on irradiation with ultraviolet light and returning to their original state when the ultraviolet light source was removed. The dye percentage positively affects the photocoloration of the as-spun and drawn polypropylene and polyethylene fibres. A new forecasting data source was achieved to optimise the selection of the polymer and the dye percentage and to specify the direction of increasing or decreasing of the significant process parameters. Utilising the elastic properties of manufactured fibres, they could be used in the development of chromic textiles for creative design, functional or smart purposes.  相似文献

Offshore wind turbines have the potential to capture the high‐quality wind resource. However, the significant wind and wave excitations may result in excessive vibrations and decreased reliability. To reduce vibrations, passive structural control devices, such as the tuned mass damper (TMD), have been used. To further enhance the vibration suppression capability, inerter‐based absorbers (IBAs) have been studied using the structure‐based approach, that is, proposing specific stiffness‐damping‐inertance elements layouts for investigation. Such an approach has a critical limitation of being only able to cover specific IBA layouts, leaving numerous beneficial configurations not identified. This paper adopts the newly introduced structure‐immittance approach, which is able to cover all network layout possibilities with a predetermined number of elements. Linear monopile and spar‐buoy turbine models are first established for optimisation. Results show that the performance improvements can be up to 6.5% and 7.3% with four and six elements, respectively, compared with the TMD. Moreover, a complete set of beneficial IBA layouts with explicit element types and numbers have been obtained, which is essential for next‐step real‐life applications. In order to verify the effectiveness of the identified absorbers with OpenFAST, an approach has been established to integrate any IBA transfer functions. It has been shown that the performance benefits preserve under both the fatigue limit state (FLS) and the ultimate limit state (ULS). Furthermore, results show that the mass component of the optimum IBAs can be reduced by up to 25.1% (7,486 kg) to achieve the same performance as the TMD.  相似文献

High proton conductivity is reported for unhumidified ammonium borosulfate, NH4[B(SO4)2], a solid acid coordination polymer that contains 1D, hydrogen-bonded NH4+···1[B(SO4)4/2] chains. NH4[B(SO4)2] is thermally stable to 320 °C and is amenable to sintering into monolithic, polycrystalline discs at 200 °C and about 300 MPa of uniaxial pressure. Impedance spectroscopy measurements reveal ionic conductivities for sintered ammonium borosulfate of 0.1 mS cm−1 at 25 °C and up to 10 mS cm−1 at 180 °C in ambient air. No superprotonic transition is observed in the temperature range of 25–180 °C. Ab initio molecular dynamics simulations show these high conductivities are aided by free rotation of the NH4+ units and significant gyrational mobility of the SO4 tetrahedra, which, in turn, provide facile pathways for proton locomotion. High conductivities, a wide operational temperature window, and tolerance to both ambient and anhydrous conditions make NH4[B(SO4)]2 an attractive candidate electrolyte for intermediate-temperature hydrogen fuel cells that may enable operation at temperatures as high as 300 °C without active humidification.  相似文献

The multicomponent approach has been successfully expanded to the Ruddlesden–Popper structure with the synthesis of two different high-entropy cuprate compositions: (La0.2Nd0.2Gd0.2Tb0.2Dy0.2)2CuO4 and (La0.2Pr0.2Nd0.2Sm0.2Eu0.2)2CuO4. The effect of synthesis method is explored using both solid-state reaction and polymeric steric entrapment (PSE) methods. It is found that PSE leads to more randomly distributed cation species, providing an advantageous method of synthesis for the growing field of high entropy oxides. In situ high-temperature x-ray diffraction tracks the amorphous to crystalline phase transformation in (La0.2Nd0.2Gd0.2Tb0.2Dy0.2)2CuO4 powder, synthesized using the PSE method. Using the High-Temperature XRD data, a method for gaining information on the kinetic behavior is also applied. Magnetometry of both compositions indicates ferrimagnetic behavior at low temperatures.  相似文献

The preparation and characterization of three families of thermoplastic oligomers (Mn = 2918–13263 g mol?1) based on polyarylsulfone (PSU) differing in both molecular weight and terminal functionality and one series of polyarylethersulfone (PES) of different molecular weights is reported. Infrared and nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy data support the formation of both the hydroxyl terminated oligomers and conversion (67–89% depending on molecular weight) to the telechelic PSU oligomer bearing reactive benzoxazine groups. Differential scanning calorimetry reveals that the onset of homopolymerization in the telechelic PSU oligomer occurs at around 100°C (peak maximum 125°C at 10 K/min) and rescans show values of the glass transition (for the homopolymers) ranging from 124 to 167°C depending on molecular weight.
