The lithiation of 5,5′‐dibromo‐2,2′‐bithiophene with one equivalent of an alkyllithium such as n‐BuLi or s‐BuLi was studied by varying the residence time in flow microreactors. With a short residence time, the product 2,2′‐bithiophene (3) derived from dilithiation was obtained preferentially and a significant amount of the starting material 5,5′‐dibromo‐2,2′‐bithiophene remained unchanged. An increase in the residence time caused a higher yield of the product 5‐bromo‐2,2′‐bithiophene derived from monolithiation with expense in the yields of 2,2′‐bithiophene and 5,5′‐dibromo‐2,2′‐bithiophene. The lithiation using MeLi gave the product 5‐bromo‐2,2′‐bithiophene preferentially even with a very short residence time.  相似文献

We investigated the population dynamics of a tritrophic interaction mediated by herbivore-induced plant volatiles that attracted carnivorous natural enemies of herbivores. We modeled the system by abstract chemistry, and an abstract rewriting system of multisets (ARMS), and compared the case where plants produced herbivore-induced volatiles with the case where they did not. We found that there was a case where herbivore-induced volatiles that attract carcivores resulted in a population increase of herbivores. Improvements in defect detection and sizing capabilities for non-destructive inspection techniques have been required in order to ensure the reliable operation and life extension of nuclear power plants. For the volumetric inspection, the phased array UT technique has superior capabilities for beam steering and focusing to objective regions, and real-time B-scan imaging without mechanical scanning. In contrast to the conventional UT method, high-speed inspection is realized by the unique feature of the phased array technique. A 256-channel array system has developed for the inspection of weldment of BWR internal components such as core shrouds. The TOFD crack sizing technique also can be applied using this system. For the surface inspection, potential drop techniques and eddy current techniques have been improved, which combined the theoretical analysis. These techniques have the crack sizing capability for surface breaking cracks to which UT method is difficult to apply. This paper provides the recent progress of these phased array and electromagnetic inspection techniques.  相似文献

Responses of the tachinid fly Exorista japonica Townsend to odors from corn plants infested with the fly’s host, the larvae of the noctuid moth Mythimna separata (Walker), were examined in a wind tunnel. Naïve female flies showed a higher rate of landing on M. separata-infested corn plants from which the host larvae had been removed than on artificially damaged or intact corn plants. When paper impregnated with a solution of headspace volatiles collected from host-infested plants was attached to intact plants, females landed on the plants at a high rate. Females also responded to intact plants to which had been attached with paper impregnated with a synthetic blend of nine chemicals identified previously in host-infested plants. There was an optimum concentration of the synthetic blend for the females’ landing. Of the nine chemicals identified previously, four [(E)-4,8-dimethyl-1,3,7-nonatriene, indole, 3-hydroxy-2-butanone, and 2-methyl-1-propanol] released only by host-infested plants were classified as a host-induced blend. The other five [(Z)-3-hexen-1-yl acetate, (E)-2-hexenal, hexanal, (Z)-3-hexen-1-ol, and linalool] were classified as a non-specific blend released not only by infested plants but also by artificially damaged or intact plants. In the wind tunnel, E. japonica females did not respond to intact plants to which paper containing a solution of non-specific blend or host-induced blend was attached. However, they showed a high level of response to a mixture of the non-specific and host-induced blends. These results indicate that naïve E. japonica use a combination of non-specific and host-induced blends as an olfactory cue for locating host-infested plants.  相似文献

Diachasmimorpha juglandis is a specialist parasitoid attacking fly larvae in the genus Rhagoletis that feed exclusively on walnut fruit husks. In a free-foraging assay comparing response to uninfested, infested, and mechanically damaged fruits, we first determined that D. juglandis use host feeding damage on the fruit as a cue for host presence. In another free-foraging assay that used artificial walnut models and wind tunnel experiments, D. juglandis distinguished infested from uninfested fruits by using either olfactory or visual cues separately. However, the response rate of wasps in the wind tunnel was raised considerably when visual cues were also available. We analyzed the volatile compounds emitted by cohorts of uninfested, mechanically damaged, and infested fruits 1, 3, 5, 8, and 10 days after oviposition by flies into the infested fruits. Total volatile emissions did not differ significantly among treatments, but quantitative changes in volatiles distinguished infested fruits from uninfested and damaged fruits. The fact that parasitoids did not distinguish between infested and damaged fruits in assays where damage was visible indicates that they rely on visual cues when those are available.  相似文献

We studied the response of a predatory thrips, Scolothrips takahashii, towards herbivore-induced plant volatiles emitted by Lima bean plants infested by two-spotted spider mites Tetranychus urticae (green form). Tests were conducted with a Y-tube olfactometer in the laboratory and with traps under field conditions. The odor of artificially damaged and uninfested Lima bean leaves was not more attractive than clean air in the Y-tube olfactometer. The predatory insects showed a greater preference for Lima bean leaves infested by the two-spotted spider mites than for either clean air or uninfested bean leaves. They showed the same preference towards infested leaves from which all spider mites and their visible products had been removed. Neither the spider mites themselves nor their products attracted the predators. In a satsuma mandarin grove, two traps with infested Lima bean plants as an odor source attracted 42 adult S. takahashii in 55 days, whereas no S. takahashii were trapped in two control traps with uninfested Lima bean plants during the same period. No S. takahashii were found during this period in the vicinity of either the sample traps or the control traps (5-m radius of each trap). These data showed that S. takahashii use herbivore-induced plant volatiles in their foraging behavior in natural ecosystems.  相似文献

Many natural enemies of insects use honeydew as a volatile cue to locate hosts or prey, as an oviposition stimulant, and as an arrestant for foraging. The aphidophagous gall midge Aphidoletes aphidimyza (Rondani) (Diptera: Cecidomyiidae) has predacious larval stages and can be used to control aphid populations, especially in greenhouses. Previous studies have shown that the honeydew, excreted by the aphid Myzus persicae, attracts A. aphidimyza, but the crucial attractants have not been identified. Using an olfactometer, we studied behavioral responses of female A. aphidimyza to volatiles emitted from honeydew excreted by the aphid Aphis gossypii on eggplants. The volatiles attracted female midges and induced oviposition. Moreover, using gas chromatography coupled with mass spectrometry (GC/MS), we identified phenylacetaldehyde as the attractant compound in the honeydew, although it did not induce oviposition in olfactometer experiments.  相似文献

Fatty acid synthesis and fatty acid oxidation were examined in rat hepatocytes under a variety of experimental conditions. In cells from fed animals, glucagon acutely switched the direction of fatty acid metabolism from synthesis to oxidation. Addition of lactate plus pyruvate had the opposite effect. The inhibitory action of glucagon on fatty acid synthesis and its stimulatory effect on fatty acid oxidation were largely, but not completely, offset by the simultaneous addition of lactate plus pyruvate. Changes in cellular citrate and malonyl-CoA levels indicated that glucagon exerted its inhibitory effect on fatty acid synthesis at two levels: (i) blockade of glycolysis; and (ii) partial inhibition of a more distal step, probably acetyl-CoA carboxylase. Under all conditions, fatty acid oxidation was related in a linear and reciprocal fashion to the rate of fatty acid synthesis and the tissue malonyl-CoA content. The latter fluctuated through a range of 1 to 6 nmol per g wet weight of cells. Since malonyl-CoA inhibits carnitine acyltransferase I of liver mitochondria with a Ki in the region of 1 to 2 micron, the present studies support the concept that this compound plays a pivotal role in the coordination of hepatic fatty acid synthesis and oxidation. The ketogenic effect of glucagon on liver appears to be manifested in large part through the ability of the hormone to reduce the tissue malonyl-CoA concentration.  相似文献
