Vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) communication has attracted much attention recently. In V2V communications mobility plays a major role in yielding frequency dispersion of the channels, and thus accurately modeling of Doppler effect becomes a challenging issue as the two fundamental assumptions of the Jack’s model may not be valid due to time-varying channel characteristics in V2V communication systems. In this paper, we present a practical model to characterize V2V communication channel and its corresponding Doppler spread spectrum is derived. In addition, we will study the impact of inter-carrier interference (ICI) generated in an orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) based V2V communication system. Compared with the classical Jake’s channel model, our proposed new channel model is more accurate and fits in particular well for the performance assessment of vehicle-to-vehicle communication systems.  相似文献

This letter investigates the issues on joint application of STBC systems and RAKE receivers in a CDMA system. We show the advantages of using STBC-RAKE receivers in multipath Rayleigh fading channels via error probability analysis and extensive computer simulations. This letter addresses the issues on performance degradation caused by channel estimation error of quasiorthogonal space-time block (QO-STBC) coded OFDM systems employing array processing decoder. The least square (LS) channel estimator is employed to obtain the required channel state information (CSI). Taking mean square error (MSE) as a performance metric, we evaluate the performance of the LS estimator in MIMO-OFDM systems over frequency selective channels, and its impact on symbol error rate (SER) using both analysis and simulations.  相似文献

We propose a hierarchical pipeline paging (HPP) for multi-tier hierarchical cellular networks, in which different tiers overlay with one another to provide overlapped coverage of cellular service, and each mobile terminal can be paged in any tier of a network. Paging requests (PRs) are queued in different waiting queues, and multiple PRs in each waiting queue are served in a pipeline manner. We study HPP, hierarchical sequential paging (HSP), and hierarchical blanket paging (HBP) schemes analytically in terms of discovery rate, total delay, paging delay, and cost. It is shown that HPP scheme outperforms both HBP and HSP schemes in terms of discovery rate while maintaining the same cost as HSP scheme. The HPP scheme outperforms HSP scheme in terms of total delay and has a lower total delay than HBP scheme when traffic load is high.  相似文献

The transmission of confidential information over LMDS networks is investigated in the present paper from an information-theoretic standpoint. The major factor impairing the link performance at these networks is rain attenuation, a physical phenomenon exhibiting both spatial and temporal variation. Based on an accurate channel modeling, analytical expressions of the probability of non-zero secrecy capacity and the outage probability for this type of networks are provided, giving for the first time an information-theoretic approach of the problem of secure transmission for LMDS networks. Useful conclusions are drawn through extended numerical results suggesting the increase of operational frequency and the use of more directional antennas to improve security in transmission of confidential messages for this type of networks.  相似文献

Rapid advances in wireless mobile network technologies and mobile handsets (MHs) facilitate ubiquitous infrastructure that can support a range of mobile services and applications in addition to conventional mobile Internet access. One recent trend is to effectively run desktop PC-oriented heavier applications on MHs. However, due to their miniature, portable size, MHs are resource-constrained and therefore, running these applications directly on an MH is not satisfactory given a user's expectations. To cope with this problem, this article proposes a novel offloading service that can seamlessly offload some of the tasks of a mobile application from an MH to nearby, resource-rich PCs (called surrogates). The system architecture and key components of the proposed offloading service are presented, prototyped, and evaluated. The results of experiments and simulations have demonstrated the effectiveness and efficiency of this offloading service for mobile applications.  相似文献

Cognitive radio (CR) is a dynamic spectrum access technology as a solution to spectrum under-utilization problem in some licensed bands. Operating over an exceedingly wide spectrum, CR systems usually adopt multi-carrier modulation (MCM) to implement flexible channelization. Consequently, efficient channel allocation scheme becomes extremely important to an MCM based CR (MCM-CR) system. In this paper, a maximum likelihood detection model is developed to detect the presence and locations of licensed users (LUs) signals in the frequency domain. Performance of the detection model, including the optimal detection region, detection probability and false alarm probability, is analyzed. A one-order two-state Markovian chain model is proposed to predict channel status information. In particular, a novel subcarrier allocation scheme for MCM-CR systems is proposed, taking into account the confidence of channel estimation, quality of services (QoS) of rental users (RUs) and throughput. To validate the analytical results, simulations have been conducted to show effectiveness of the proposed scheme.  相似文献

In mobile ad hoc wireless LANs, it is very difficult to maintain a targeted network utilization due to the time-varying nature of the contention-based medium access control protocol and the lack of a central control. Furthermore, previous research has been mainly focusing on the aspect of optimizing the performance at each station. But doing so may result in a very low overall network utilization. Therefore, self-regulating network utilization is very important to provide quality-of-service (QoS) in mobile ad hoc wireless networks. Through self-disciplining its own behaviors locally, each station will optimize its protocol parameters to meet the targeted overall network utilization, which is very important for QoS provisioning to multimedia services. This paper proposes and evaluates a fully distributed scheme for each station to self-regulate its behaviors through adapting the local protocol parameters to meet the targeted overall network utilization with the changes in the network environment such as the number of stations and channel quality.  相似文献
