Thermal desorption aerosol mass spectrometers (TDAMSs) with electron ionization are widely used for quantitative analysis of aerosol chemical composition, and the ionization efficiency of evolved gas molecules from aerosol particles is an important parameter for such analysis. We performed laboratory experiments using a custom-made TDAMS to investigate the key factors affecting ionization efficiency. Ammonium chloride (NH4Cl) and ammonium iodide (NH4I) were used as test compounds because their thermal decomposition products are expected to be simple (dominated by ammonia (NH3) and hydrogen halide (HX)). The ion signals originating from NH3 and HX were measured by altering the position of the ionizer relative to the vaporization point. The ratio of ion signal from NH3 to that from HX increased with increasing divergence angle of evolved gas plumes, which suggests that the angular distribution of gas molecules could be an important factor affecting the ionization efficiency.

Protein affinity reagents (e.g., antibodies) are often used for basic research, diagnostics, separations, and disease therapy. Although a lot of “synthetic” protein affinity reagents have been developed as a cost-effective alternative to antibodies, their low biocompatibility is a considerable problem for clinical application. Lipid nanoparticles (LNP) represent a highly biocompatible drug delivery agent. However, little has been reported that LNP itself works as a protein affinity reagent in living animals. Here, LNP is engineered for binding to and neutralizing a target toxic peptide in living animals by multifunctionalization with amino acid derivatives. Multifunctionalized LNP (MF-LNP) is prepared using amino acid derivative-conjugated lipids. Optimized MF-LNP exhibits nanomolar affinity to the target toxic peptide and inhibits toxic peptide-dependent hemolysis and cytotoxicity. In addition, MF-LNP captures and neutralizes the toxic peptide after intravenous injection in the bloodstream; in addition, MF-LNP does not release the toxic peptide in the accumulated organ. Our purpose is to develop the technology for evaluating emotion objectively from the oxygenated hemoglobin within a brain. Nowadays, Japan is an aging society. The elderly people who need care will increase from now on increasingly. In the case of the person requiring the care who lost the function to convey an intention especially, the objective judgment to a physical and mental pain is required. Persons requiring care will also increase in number with the increase in this population. We gave subject stimulus of a comfortable or an uncomfortable sound and measured concentration of the oxygenated hemoglobin of a frontal lobe part by near-infrared spectroscopy. Based on the experimental result, a comfortable state or an uncomfortable state was distinguished by concentration of the oxygenated hemoglobin using the bayesian network. A mesiodens is the most common type of supernumerary tooth present in conjunction to normal dentition. A mesiodens may commonly occur in the central region of the upper or lower jaw. A mesiodens is different from normal teeth in terms of structure and shape. The aim of this study is to evaluate the micro‐ and nanoscale structural properties of mesiodens dentin by combined small‐ and wide‐angle X‐ray scattering (SAXS/WAXS) and Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy. Five freshly extracted, noncarious mesiodens and five normal dentin disks prepared from human incisor teeth were compared. Using FTIR, the phosphate‐to‐amide I, carbonate‐to‐phosphate, and carbonate‐to‐amide I band area ratios and the crystallinity index were quantified. SAXS/WAXS were used to study the nanostructure of mesiodens. An increase in the mineral content in the mesiodens dentin with respect to the normal group was found. Crystallinity was also significantly increased and the protein content decreased in the mesiodens dentin compared with that of normal dentin. SAXS/WAXS results revealed that mesiodens dentin has a more calcified tissue. Further, SAXS analysis revealed a nonuniform distribution of dentin fibrils in mesiodens. Microsc. Res. ABSTRACT Superheated steam drying of sintered spheres of glass beads with different diameters is investigated to reveal the effects of the gravitational force on drying rates. In a previous study, the drying rate curves of small samples with coarse glass beads in which the frictional resistance to flow of water and the effect of the gravitational force are negligible, were predicted by an evaporation zone model.In the present investigation, the drying rate curves of sintered spheres of glass beads with diameters ranging from 1.53×10-2m to 4.99×lO-2m are experimentally and theoretically obtained, and also the capillary pressure curves are measured by use of Haines' apparatus. The drying rate curves of large samples in which the effect of the gravitational force can not be negligible, are compared with those for small samples and the difference among these curves is discussed in terms of the moisture distributions which are estimated from the evaporation zone model with the observed capillary pressure curves. 相似文献

A bulk layer of aluminum nitride (AlN) polycrystals was synthesized on a boron nitride crucible surface by heating Al chunks with 5 mol% of bismuth at 1273 K for 3 h under NH3 gas flow. The fragments of the layer were characterized by X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, and transmission electron microscopy. The platelet grains of AlN with a size of 0.1–1.0 μm and having preferred orientation of the c -axis perpendicular to the layer were formed at the crucible side. Recently, there has been much interest in the study of the formation of groups of agents that cause interactions between agents and invent new functions.
