The influence of perfluorinated and hydrogenated surfactants on the mechanism of hydrogen evolution on gold electrodes in 1 M H2SO4 has been investigated from steady-state polarization curves and impedance data. The ohmic drop due to bubbles and the reaction inhibition, consequent on both the electrode surface masking by bubbles and the surfactant adsorption, have been separated and compared. The activity of surfactants decreases with the hydrophilic head in the order cationic> anionic> non-ionic. Perfluorinated surfactants produce a lower inhibition than the hydrogenated ones on the electrochemical reaction which occurs in a Tafel kinetic regime, independently of the presence of surfactants.  相似文献

In this paper, the canonical problem of coaxial waveguide partially filled with chiral media is analyzed by a new equivalent transmission line network method. Both radial transmission lines in the cross section and multi-mode transmission lines in the longitudinal direction are introduced. The symmetrical properties of the structure are also discussed. Therefore, this method brings a clear physical picture into the wave propagation phenomena. Based on the analysis, the notable features and the role of the chirality parameter of the medium on the reflected and transmitted guided waves are discussed.  相似文献

After a brief overview of the concepts of electromagnetic chirality and wave propagation in chiral media, this paper deals with the field of microwave-chiral-material modeling. First, studies regarding the scattering of single-chiral or non-chiral elements with different shapes (various designs of helices, Ω-shaped scatterers, wires, and loops) are presented. Results of the backscattered field given by different computer codes are compared. Comparisons among analytical, numerical, and experimental results are also reported. Second, the case of a collection of chiral inclusions is treated. A review of different methods, developed to estimate average properties of helix-loaded materials, is given. Modeling of the effective properties of a chiral slab, such as the rotation angle, ellipticity, permittivity, and permeability, is explored. Reflection and transmission coefficients, evaluated by various methods, are compared with each other, and with measurements. Limitations of the models, possible improvements, and new directions for research are also described. Finally, applications of such composites to the design of radar-absorbing materials are addressed  相似文献

Recently, the concept of chirowaveguides, which exhibit some novel and interesting properties due to electromagnetic chirality, was introduced and studied elsewhere. In this paper, the authors analyze theoretically another problem associated with chirowaveguides, namely, the problem of reflection and transmission of guided waves at an air-chiral interface and at a chiral slab located transversely in a parallel-plate waveguide. The notable features and the role of chirality of the medium on the reflected and transmitted guided waves are discussed, and physical insights into these results are provided. It is found that since the guided modes inside the chiral region of the waveguide are hybrid, in order to satisfy the boundary conditions at interfaces, the reflected and transmitted guided modes in the air regions of the waveguides need to be of TE and TM modes. The motivation behind this study is the potential applications of this problem to the design of novel measurement techniques for determining material parameters of chiral composites  相似文献

Previous studies have shown that flavonoids are modulators of the transmembrane P-glycoprotein (P-gp) which mediates cell multidrug resistance. Some structural elements have been identified which seem to contribute to these compounds' activity. In the present study, a series of halogenated chalcones was prepared to further explore the structural requirements for the P-gp modulation. Four halogenated chalcones have been synthesized and evaluated as potential modulators of P-gp-mediated multidrug resistance of cancer cells by in vitro assays using a purified recombinant domain of the transporter containing the modulator binding site. Halogenated chalcones exhibited high-affinity binding, the 2',4', 6'-trihydroxy-4-iodochalcone behaving as the most potent compound with a KD value in the nanomolar range.  相似文献

An analytical model for polarizability dyadics of small chiral conductive particles in free space or those embedded in a lossy material is presented and discussed. Chiral particles are modeled by a wire loop connected to two straight wire elements. The electromagnetic analysis is based on the replacement of the particles by two connected antennas representing the wire and loop portions. Analytical expressions for polarizabilities are given. For electrically small particles, a lumped-element equivalent circuit can be constructed and the polarizabilities can be expressed in terms of equivalent circuit parameters. It is shown that the wire-and-loop antenna model for scatterers satisfies the reciprocity condition and other basic physical requirements. Approximate analytical expressions are compared with numerical simulations and with the experimental data on reflection from single chiral particles, and the results are seen to be in good agreement. The model can be used in analytical modeling of chiral and omega composite materials  相似文献

In this paper, the dispersion characteristics of symmetrical modes in circular chirowaveguides are analyzed by a new equivalent transmission line network method. Radial transmission lines in the transverse cross section are introduced. In the transmission line network, the right-circularly polarized (RCP) wave and the left-circularly polarized (LCP) wave can propagate independently in the uniform regions and couple only at the interface. Therefore, this method brings a clear physical picture into the wave propagation phenomena. Based on the analysis, two interesting effects due to mode coupling and leakage are carefully studied.  相似文献
