This study was intended to examine the mechanism of multiple slope failures and debris flows that occurred in the outskirts of Hiroshima on 20th August 2014. A field survey of the mountain stream where large-scale damage was incurred was carried out and the characteristics of debris flows which made serious damages were investigated. There were five findings of this study. (1) The initiation of debris flows was not limited to thin and planar shallow failures, but also showed V or U shapes, where the eroded sediments seemed to be pushed out by artesian water, and the eroded depth exceeded several meters at many locations. (2) There were areas with high permeability, such as faults, fracture zones, and joints in Mt. Abusan. It is inferred that the constantly present groundwater in these areas became artesian water because of a large amount of rainfall in upstream locations. This quickly destabilized the slopes on a large scale. (3) There were at least three estimated debris flows at the mountain stream above Midorigaoka prefectural apartments in Yagi 3-Chome, where the worst damage occurred. The mountain stream near Abu-no-Sato housing complex also had multiple debris flows. Here, the secondary debris flow changed its flow path because of the presence of sediments from an earlier debris flow. (4) The actual volumes of flowed mass were much larger than that predicted at 11 of the 18 mountain streams in Midori-i and Yagi districts. The volume of the mass of five of these mountain streams was more than twice the estimated volume. It is necessary to modify the method of calculating the volume of unstable sediments in the mountain stream. (5) It was found that the devastating damage of buildings and human lives took place in the areas well beyond the special restricted zones. The present method to designate the special restricted zone must be revised considering such problems as the underestimation of the volume of unstable sediments, the assumptions of a single debris flow and on the direction of debris flow, and the effect of the difference on rock and soil types.  相似文献

Terahertz digital holography (THz-DH) has the potential to be used for non-destructive inspection of visibly opaque soft materials due to its good immunity to optical scattering and absorption. Although previous research on full-field off-axis THz-DH has usually been performed using Fresnel diffraction reconstruction, its minimum reconstruction distance occasionally prevents a sample from being placed near a THz imager to increase the signal-to-noise ratio in the hologram. In this article, we apply the angular spectrum method (ASM) for wavefront reconstruction in full-filed off-axis THz-DH because ASM is more accurate at short reconstruction distances. We demonstrate real-time phase imaging of a visibly opaque plastic sample with a phase resolution power of λ/49 at a frame rate of 3.5 Hz in addition to real-time amplitude imaging. We also perform digital focusing of the amplitude image for the same object with a depth selectivity of 447 μm. Furthermore, 3D imaging of visibly opaque silicon objects was achieved with a depth precision of 1.7 μm. The demonstrated results indicate the high potential of the proposed method for in-line or in-process non-destructive inspection of soft materials.  相似文献

A new technique for the fabrication of arrayed waveguide gratings on upconversion luminescent layers for flexible transparent displays is reported. Ho3+‐ and Yb3+‐codoped NaYF4 nanoparticles are synthesized by hydrothermal techniques. Transparent films consisting of two transparent polymers on the NaYF4 nanoparticle films exhibit mechanical flexibility and high transparence in visible region. Patterned NaYF4 nanoparticle films are fabricated by calcination‐free micromolding in capillaries. Arrayed waveguide gratings consisting of the two transparent polymers are formed on the patterned NaYF4 nanoparticle films by micromolding in capillaries. Green and red luminescence is observed from the upconversion luminescent layers of the NaYF4 nanoparticle films in the arrayed waveguide gratings under excitation at 980 nm laser light. Arrayed waveguide gratings on the upconversion luminescent layers are fabricated with Er3+‐doped NaYF4 nanoparticles which can convert two photons at 850 and 1500 nm into single photon at 550 nm. These results demonstrate that flexible transparent displays can be fabricated by constructing arrayed waveguide gratings on upconversion luminescent layers, which can operate in nonprojection mode without mirrors, transparent electrodes, and electric circuits.  相似文献

Terpendole E is first natural product found to inhibit mitotic kinesin Eg5, but its inhibitory mechanism remains to be revealed. Here, we report the effects of terpendole E and 11ketopaspaline (a new natural terpendole E analogue) on the Eg5–microtubule interaction and in several Eg5 mutants. 11‐Ketopaspaline is a shunt product from terpendole E, and it shows potent inhibitory activity against the microtubule‐stimulated ATPase activity of Eg5. Unlike other Eg5 inhibitors, such as S‐trityl‐L ‐cysteine (STLC) and GSK‐1, both terpendole E and 11‐ketopaspaline only partially inhibited Eg5–microtubule interaction. Furthermore, terpendole E and 11‐ketopaspaline inhibited several Eg5 mutants that are resistant to STLC (Eg5D130A, Eg5L214A) or GSK‐1 (Eg5I299F, Eg5A356T), but with the same extent of inhibition against wild‐type Eg5. Because Eg5D130A and Eg5L214A show cross‐resistance to most known Eg5 inhibitors, which bind the L5 loop, these results suggest that terpendole E and its analogues have a different binding site and/or inhibitory mechanism to those for L5 loop‐binding type Eg5 inhibitors.  相似文献

This paper presents an extension to the existing dynamic relaxation method to include equality constraint conditions in the process. The existing dynamic relaxation method is presented as a general, gradient‐based, minimization technique. This representation allows for the introduction of the projected gradient, discrete parallel transportation and pull back operators that enable the formulation of the geodesic dynamic relaxation method, a method that accounts for equality constraint conditions. The characteristics of both the existing and geodesic dynamic relaxation methods are discussed in terms of the system's conservation of energy, damping (viscous, kinetic, and drift), and geometry generation. Particular attention is drawn to the introduction of a novel damping approach named drift damping. This technique is essentially a combination of viscous and kinetic damping. It allows for a smooth and fast convergence rate in both the existing and geodesic dynamic relaxation processes. The case study was performed on the form‐finding of an iconic, ridge‐and‐valley, pre‐stressed membrane system, which is supported by masts. The study shows the potential of the proposed method to account for specified (total) length requirements. The geodesic dynamic relaxation technique is widely applicable to the form‐finding of force‐modeled systems (including mechanically and pressurized pre‐stressed membranes) where equality constraint control is desired. Conventional and inverted organic solar cells of poly[9,9‐dioctyl‐fluorene‐co‐bithiophene] (F8T2) as liquid‐crystal semiconducting polymer and fullerene as electron acceptor were fabricated and characterized. An effect of thermal treatment of the films on annealing condition near glass transition was investigated for tuning optimization and improving the photovoltaic and optical properties. Annealing treatment below the glass transition improved the photovoltaic performance and carrier diffusion in crystal growth of active layer. The X‐ray diffraction patterns indicate a crystalline structure with molecular order of F8T2 in crystal index, 100 as a layer distance between sheets of F8T2 chains. The photovoltaic properties were based on molecular interactions with molecular ordering in active layer at crystal state. As the photovoltaic mechanisms, the F8T2 thin film as p‐type semiconducting polymer worked for electron‐donor layer to support light‐induced generation, carrier diffusion and charge transfer near interface in active layer.
