Accumulated evidence shows that biology and the environment can mediate self-injurious behavior (SIB) in persons with mental retardation. Whether pharmacological treatment alters the environmental mediation of self-injury is unclear. Opioid antagonist effects on sequential dependencies for self-injury were studied in the context of experimental single-subject double-blind placebo-controlled designs. Direct observational data were collected for 4 adult subjects in real time on daily rate of SIB and staff interactions. Clinically significant reductions (i.e., ≥ 33%) in SIB rate were observed for 3 of the 4 subjects. For all subjects, the magnitude of the sequential dependency between staff behavior and self-injury was significantly greater during treatment with naltrexone than during treatment with a placebo. To overcome current limitations in micro manufacturing a new approach instead of evolutionary small step progress has to take place. Applying small machine tools to manufacture small workpieces allows for a leap of improvements enabled by the small size itself. This miniaturization in comparison to simply down-scaling current concepts qualifies the use of materials and technologies commonly not found in machine tools. This contribution describes the aspects, methodology, qualifications as well as cause and effects pursued by the approach of small machine tools for small workpieces.  相似文献

Square Foot Manufacturing: a new production concept for micro manufacturing   总被引:3,自引:2,他引:1  
Today a large number of microstructures are already employed as separate components or as constituents of larger modules in a broad spectrum of production in medical technology, optics, biotechnology, mechatronics, fluidics, (micro)-forming and tool construction. Current research activities are directed towards the downscaling of manufacturing procedures or the formation of complex process chains for the manufacture of micro workpieces. The Square Foot Manufacturing concept represents one approach aimed at achieving significant technical, economic and ecological developments in the production of microstructures by means of machining techniques that can be applied to a spectrum of materials as broad as possible. This fabrication concept representing a refinement of existing desktop manufacturing concepts is currently being developed at the Institute of Production Engineering of Helmut-Schmidt-University/University of the Federal Armed Forces Hamburg. This paper is intended to provide an overview of the theoretical concept and the current state of its technical implementation.  相似文献

Serotonin (5-hydroxytryptamine; 5-HT), an endogenous and ubiquitous monoamine, has become a subject of "explosive" research. Though its vasoconstrictor properties were first noticed in defibrinated or clotted blood, 5-HT was discovered 75 years later going through several denominations such as "enteramine, serotonin or 5-HT". Once confirmed that serotonin, enteramine and 5-HT were the same substance, the compound was synthesized and efforts with a view to analyze 5-HT receptors were performed. On the basis of the actions of 5-HT and other drugs on several smooth muscle experimental preparations, it was originally suggested that 5-HT could act via different receptors. Thus, Gaddum and Picarelli proposed the "D" and "M" classification based on the differential sensitivity of guinea pig ileum 5-HT-induced contraction to some drugs. Later on, this classification was confronted with the new Peroutka's 5-HT, and 5-HT2 classification derived from radioligand binding studies. Since these 5-HT receptors were being referred to by many names, an international committee formulated some criteria for the characterization and a framework for the nomenclature of 5-HT receptors into 5-HT1, 5-HT2 and 5-HT3 categories. More recently, functional evidence unrelated to activation of the above 5-HT receptor types was given and a new 5-HT (5-HT4) receptor was proposed to exist. From this stage, molecular biologists have been cloning several 5-HT receptors which are different from the various receptors (sub)types characterized thus far. This review is focused on the discovery of 5-HT and the evolution of the classification of 5-HT receptors, from historical remarks to the modern concepts about receptor characterization; furthermore, the relevance of this development to medical research is considered.  相似文献

In order to meet future earth-to-space communication needs, new regions of the electromagnetic spectrum must be utilized. This article discusses the feasibility of using the millimeter-wave region. It is shown, for example, that for clear-sky conditions the effects of the atmosphere on propagation at frequencies of 15 and 35 GHz are very small. However, the attenuation increases significantly under conditions of heavy cloud cover and precipitation. On the basis of these results it is evident that atmospheric attenuation is sufficiently low in selected regions of the millimeter-wavelength spectrum to permit wideband earth-to-space communications with moderate reliability. For high reliability the high attenuation due to heavy rainfall must be overcome either by the use of space diversity techniques or by locating the ground terminal in a dry climate.  相似文献

Globalization and the use of technology call for an adaptation of value creation strategies. As the potential for rationalization and achieving flexibility within companies is to the greatest possible extent exhausted, approaches to the corporate reorganization of value creation are becoming increasingly important. In this process, the spread and further development of information and communication technology often provide the basis for a reorganization of cross-company value nets and lead to a redistribution of roles and tasks between the actors involved in value creation. While cooperative, decentralized and self-organizing value creation processes are in fact being promoted, the associated potential for development and production engineering is being underestimated and hence not implemented sufficiently. This contribution will introduce a value creation taxonomy and then, using its notion and structure, describe the emerging transformations in value creation on the basis of case studies. Finally an adequate framework for analysing and configuring value creation will be presented.  相似文献

Up to now, machine tools in micro production hardly feature modularity and hence offer only few opportunities to reconfigure or individualize a manufacturing process. This article gives a summary of concepts, how modularity in small micro machine tools can be designed and implemented. A size-adaptable machine frame is the basis for various possible process layouts. Adapters, a feed module with replaceable drive and kinematics, equipped with appropriate interfaces as well as a supply concept are introduced to allow further configuration. The combination of those concepts characterizes a small modular machine tool system. Technical solutions and fully functional prototypes will be shown and discussed in the following paper.  相似文献

This paper highlights the process of developing compliant mechanisms. Because of their high precision and the absence of friction compliant mechanisms are especially suitable for the use in micro manufacturing. In the following a systematic methodology of the development process is presented, including the design process, the realization of a mechanism and an application for feed units. At the first stage of design the topology of a compliant mechanism and the geometry of the flexure hinges are generated applying optimization methods. Afterwards efficient modeling strategies are applied to ensure dynamic models with high accuracy and manageable size for further investigations. Using these models an open-loop control is designed by means of mathematical trajectory optimization. At the final stage models and open-loop control are applied to design a closed-loop control completing the feed unit. This holistic approach reduces time and effort of the development process significantly. It supports the developer in creating reliable and innovative compliant mechanisms for a wide range of applications.  相似文献

Wearable robotic hand devices can support people doing hand-intensive tasks by reducing the physical stress and strain on the human hand. For the safety and comfort of the user, such a device should be compatible and inconspicuous. Based on these two requirements, this paper presents a biomimetic design of a wearable robotic hand device called soft muscle glove, aiming to restore the salient features and functionalities of the human hand. Inspired by the hand musculature, the soft structure of the glove contains strings, bands and shape memory alloy (SMA) spring actuators to replicate the functionalities of tendons, pulleys and muscles in the human hand. The low-mass and small-size SMA spring actuator allows an ultra-compact and light-weight design of the glove with high dexterity. The glove weighs in total 85.03 g inclusive of the actuators and microcontroller. The performance of the muscle glove was experimentally investigated through hand function tests. The experimental results suggest that the glove can achieve functional range of motion of the human hand and can perform a wide range of grasp types defined in grasp taxonomy. Moreover, the grasping performance of the muscle glove with coupled and uncoupled flexion of the finger joints was compared. The uncoupled control shows a better matching between the grasp posture and the objects form, contributing to more efficient force transmission. This confirms the benefits of the proposed highly biomimetic design.  相似文献

The application of metal forming technologies to the production of metallic micro parts is limited by problems arising from size effects related to small dimensions. An approach to solve these problems is the laserassistance of the micro forming process to benefit from e.g. the growing influence of thermodynamic aspects. Experimental investigations were carried out to determine the workpiece temperature by varying laser power at constant heating time. This is a substantial factor for the laser-assisted micro forming process design. Results from a numerical analysis using FEM techniques were compared with the ones from the test series. Furthermore micro forming investigations were made showing a dependence of the material micro structure from tool structure size and laser power.  相似文献
