It is proposed that the mechanical state of turbogenerators be regularly monitored by photoelectric chronometric recording of low-frequency torsional vibrations of their shafts. Transient recordings are considered for the shutdown of a turbine generator functioning under the conditions of a heat and electricity generating station. Photoelectric systems are used for precision chronometric recording (absolute error 1·10−7 sec) of the rotating shaft to provide for detecting effects not accessible to the standard equipment of power stations. Structures of mathematical models intended for studying the possibility of applying a phase-chronometric method of control and diagnostics of cyclic mechanisms based on precision measurement of time intervals corresponding to the shaft rotation angles within a single revolution, to control and diagnostics of the technical states of gas-turbine aviation engines are proposed.
