Transcatheter embolization is a minimally invasive procedure that uses embolic agents to intentionally block diseased or injured blood vessels for therapeutic purposes. Embolic agents in clinical practice are limited by recanalization, risk of non-target embolization, failure in coagulopathic patients, high cost, and toxicity. Here, a decellularized cardiac extracellular matrix (ECM)-based nanocomposite hydrogel is developed to provide superior mechanical stability, catheter injectability, retrievability, antibacterial properties, and biological activity to prevent recanalization. The embolic efficacy of the shear-thinning ECM-based hydrogel is shown in a porcine survival model of embolization in the iliac artery and the renal artery. The ECM-based hydrogel promotes arterial vessel wall remodeling and a fibroinflammatory response while undergoing significant biodegradation such that only 25% of the embolic material remains at 14 days. With its unprecedented proregenerative, antibacterial properties coupled with favorable mechanical properties, and its superior performance in anticoagulated blood, the ECM-based hydrogel has the potential to be a next-generation biofunctional embolic agent that can successfully treat a wide range of vascular diseases.  相似文献

Even though fuzzy logic is one of the most common methodologies for matching different kind of data sources, there is no study which uses this methodology for matching publication and patent data within a technology evaluation framework according to the authors’ best knowledge. In order to fill this gap and to demonstrate the usefulness of fuzzy logic in technology evaluation, this study proposes a novel technology evaluation framework based on an advanced/improved version of fuzzy logic, namely; interval type-2 fuzzy sets and systems (IT2FSSs). This framework uses patent data obtained from the European Patent Office (EPO) and publication data obtained from Web of Science/Knowledge (WoS/K) to evaluate technology groups with respect to their trendiness. Since it has been decided to target technology groups, patent and publication data sources are matched through the use IT2FSSs. The proposed framework enables us to make a strategic evaluation which directs considerations to use-inspired basic researches, hence achieving science-based technological improvements which are more beneficial for society. A European Classification System (ECLA) class – H01-Basic Electric Elements – is evaluated by means of the proposed framework in order to demonstrate how it works. The influence of the use of IT2FSSs is investigated by comparison with the results of its type-1 counterpart. This method shows that the use of type-2 fuzzy sets, i.e. handling more uncertainty, improves technology evaluation outcomes.  相似文献

A conventional cement grinding circuit is composed of a two compartment tube mill, a mill filter which collects the fine material inside the mill and a dynamic air separator where final product with required fineness is collected. In general the material fed to the circuit has a top size of 50 mm which is very coarse for the ball mill. For this purpose, later in 1980s, high pressure grinding rolls (HPGR) has found applications as a pregrinder which increased throughput of the grinding circuit at the same fineness.In early applications, HPGR was operated in open circuit. But later as the operating principle of the equipment based on the compression, some portion of the HPGR discharge recycled back to improve efficiency of the mill or operated closed circuit with classifiers. Within this study effect of open and closed circuit HPGR applications on dry grinding circuit performance was examined. For this purpose sampling studies around three different cement grinding circuit were completed. In the first study, a circuit including open circuit HPGR, ball mill and air separator was sampled and chosen as the basic condition. As the final product size distribution is important for grinding circuit, model structure of each equipment was developed. The second and third surveys were carried out around closed circuit HPGR operation with V and VSK separator to develop models for the separators. Finally the separator models were used in basic condition to simulate closed circuit HPGR application.It was understood from the studies that closed circuit HPGR operation improved the overall circuit efficiency at the same final product fineness by reducing the specific energy consumption.  相似文献

The effects of regional clinker porosity and interstitial phase morphology differences on grindability of clinkers have been investigated within the scope of this study. Porosity and phase characteristics of two clinkers from different furnaces which are using the same raw materials were determined by the application of image processing techniques on SEM images of polished surfaces. Comparison of interstitial phase compositions of two clinkers showed that, clinkers with similar phase compositions may have different grindability due to the porosity and phase morphology differences. Porous clinkers usually exhibit a dendritic interstitial phase morphology with an improved grindability. Increasing porosity also leads to greater incidence of the dendritic morphology in porous regions and lower incidence of alkali in the aluminate in dendritic regions.  相似文献

Ultraviolet nanoimprint lithography (UV-NIL) is a promising technology for the fabrication of sub-10-nm features. Research has focused on employing a large-area stamp to improve UV-NIL throughput, but a large-area stamp makes it difficult to obtain an acceptable uniform residual layer thickness and/or avoid defects such as air entrapment. This paper presents the development of a single-step UV-NIL tool in which a 4-in. Pyrex stamp is first used to imprint coated resin against a 4-in. Si wafer in a low vacuum environment. Pressurized N2 is subsequently applied to the wafer bottom to improve the quality of imprint results. This UV-NIL tool was used to successfully imprint a 4-in. stamp with recessed patterns engraved over the entire stamp areas onto a 4-in. Si wafer.  相似文献

In this study, a substitute fuel for diesel engines was produced from inedible animal tallow and its usability was investigated as pure biodiesel and its blends with petroleum diesel fuel in a diesel engine. Tallow methyl ester as biodiesel fuel was prepared by base-catalyzed transesterification of the fat with methanol in the presence of NaOH as catalyst. Fuel properties of methyl ester, diesel fuel and blends of them (5%, 20% and 50% by volume) were determined. Viscosity and density of fatty acid methyl ester have been found to meet ASTM D6751 and EN 14214 specifications. Viscosity and density of tallow methyl esters are found to be very close to that of diesel. The calorific value of biodiesel is found to be slightly lower than that of diesel. An experimental study was carried out in order to investigate of its usability as alternative fuel of tallow methyl ester in a direct injection diesel engine. It was observed that the addition of biodiesel to the diesel fuel decreases the effective efficiency of engine and increases the specific fuel consumption. This is due to the lower heating value of biodiesel compared to diesel fuel. However, the effective engine power was comparable by biodiesel compared with diesel fuel. Emissions of carbon monoxide (CO), oxides of nitrogen (NOx), sulphur dioxide (SO2) and smoke opacity were reduced around 15%, 38.5%, 72.7% and 56.8%, respectively, in case of tallow methyl esters (B100) compared to diesel fuel. Besides, the lowest CO, NOx emissions and the highest exhaust temperature were obtained for B20 among all other fuels. The reductions in exhaust emissions made tallow methyl esters and its blends, especially B20 a suitable alternative fuel for diesel and thus could help in controlling air pollution. Based on this study, animal tallow methyl esters and its blends with petroleum diesel fuel can be used a substitute for diesel in direct injection diesel engines without any engine modification.  相似文献

The use of vegetable oils as a fuel in diesel engines causes some problems due to their high viscosity compared with conventional diesel fuel. Various techniques and methods are used to solve the problems resulting from high viscosity. One of these techniques is fuel blending. In this study, a blend of 50% sesame oil and 50% diesel fuel was used as an alternative fuel in a direct injection diesel engine. Engine performance and exhaust emissions were investigated and compared with the ordinary diesel fuel in a diesel engine. The experimental results show that the engine power and torque of the mixture of sesame oil–diesel fuel are close to the values obtained from diesel fuel and the amounts of exhaust emissions are lower than those of diesel fuel. Hence, it is seen that blend of sesame oil and diesel fuel can be used as an alternative fuel successfully in a diesel engine without any modification and also it is an environmental friendly fuel in terms of emission parameters.  相似文献
