Inorganic arsenic (iAs) is a contaminant present in food, especially in rice and rice-based products. Toxicity of arsenic compounds (As) depends on species and oxidative state. iAs species, such as arsenite (As(III)) and arsenate (As(V)), are more bioactive and toxic than organic arsenic species, like methylarsonic acid (MMA(V)) and dimethylarsinic acid (DMA(V)) or arsenosugars and arsenobetaine. An ion chromatography-inductively coupled-plasma-mass spectroscopy method was developed to separate the four following arsenic anions: As(III), As(V), MMA(V) and DMA(V). Sample preparation was done in mild acidic conditions to ensure species preservation. The predominant arsenic species found in rice and rice-based products, except for rice drinks, was As(III), with 60–80% of the total As content, followed by DMA(V) and As(V). MMA(V) was measured only at low levels (<3%). Analyses of rice products (N = 105) intended for toddlers, including special products destined for infants and toddlers, such as dry form baby foods (N = 12) or ready-to-use form (N = 9), were done. It was found in this study that there is little or no margin of exposure. Risk assessment, using the occurrence data and indicated intake scenarios compared to reference BMDLs as established by EFSA, demonstrated toddlers with a high consumption of rice based cereals and rice drinks are at risk of high iAs exposure, for which a potential health risk cannot be excluded.  相似文献

Sulphonated anthraquinones are known to be recalcitrant to biodegradation and are not eliminated by traditional wastewater treatment plants, leading to their accumulation in fresh water. Due to the high cost and limited efficiency of existing physical-chemical treatments, alternative cheaper processes are required to remove these compounds from industrial effluents. Four plant species were tested under hydroponic conditions for their ability to treat model effluents contaminated with mono- and disulphonated anthraquinones. Among them, Rheum rabarbarum (rhubarb) showed the most promising results and was chosen for further investigation. The apparent transpiration stream concentration factor obtained with this plant species reached up to 2.5, indicating a strong phytotreatment potential that should be further explored then exploited.  相似文献

This paper presents an original method developed to quantify the reactivity of mineral additions based on the measurement of the lime (CaO) and gypsum (CaSO4, 2H2O) consumed by mineral additions in a paste. Three mineral additions were tested: a Siliceous Filler (SF), a natural pozzolan (Poz) and a Wastepaper Sludge Ash (WSA). The results obtained on SF, considered as a reference, show the efficiency of this method. Its application to Poz and WSA permits the quantity of lime and gypsum consumed by these additions to be evaluated and, thus, the amount of each component to be optimized in Hydraulic Road Binders.  相似文献

EUROFER weldability is investigated in support of the European material properties database and TBM manufacturing. Electron Beam, Hybrid, laser and narrow gap TIG processes have been carried out on the EUROFER-97 steel (thickness up to 40 mm), a reduced activation ferritic-martensitic steel developed in Europe. These welding processes produce similar welding results with high joint coefficients and are well adapted for minimizing residual distortions. The fusion zones are typically composed of martensite laths, with small grain sizes. In the heat-affected zones, martensite grains contain carbide precipitates. High hardness values are measured in all these zones that if not tempered would degrade toughness and creep resistance. PWHT developments have driven to a one-step PWHT (750 °C/3 h), successfully applied to joints restoring good material performances. It will produce less distortion levels than a full austenitization PWHT process, not really applicable to a complex welded structure such as the TBM. Different tungsten coatings have been successfully processed on EUROFER material. It has shown no really effect on the EUROFER base material microstructure.  相似文献

This paper presents the insulated TO-220AB TRIAC package aging when these devices are subjected to experimental power cycling test with various case temperature swings (ΔTcase). This study includes reliability tests set-up, results and failure analysis. An innovative failure analysis flow is proposed to identify the failure mechanism implied. This new failure analysis process flow is necessary due to the complex stack of these devices. Finally, thanks to the reliability tests and the complete failure analysis results, the thermal resistance (Rth) change is correlated to the physical defect modification. This whole study gives the first data collection that is required to propose a lifetime prediction model for insulated TO-220AB TRIAC package during power cycling accelerated aging tests.  相似文献

The inhibitor of apoptosis (IAP) family of antiapoptotic genes, originally discovered in baculovirus, exists in animals ranging from insects to humans. Here, we investigated the ability of IAPs to suppress cell death in both a neuronal model of apoptosis and excitotoxicity. Cerebellar granule neurons undergo apoptosis when switched from 25 to 5 mM potassium, and excitotoxic cell death in response to glutamate. We examined the endogenous expression of four members of the IAP family, X chromosome-linked IAP (XIAP), rat IAP1 (RIAP1), RIAP2, and neuronal apoptosis inhibitory protein (NAIP), by semiquantitative reverse PCR and immunoblot analysis in cultured cerebellar granule neurons. Cerebellar granule neurons express significant levels of RIAP2 mRNA and protein, but expression of RIAP1, NAIP, and XIAP was not detected. RIAP2 mRNA content and protein levels did not change when cells were switched from 25 to 5 mM potassium. To determine whether ectopic expression of IAP influenced neuronal survival after potassium withdrawal or glutamate exposure, we used recombinant adenoviral vectors to target XIAP, human IAP1 (HIAP1), HIAP2, and NAIP into cerebellar granule neurons. We demonstrate that forced expression of IAPs efficiently blocked potassium withdrawal-induced N-acetyl-Asp-Glu-Val-Asp-specific caspase activity and reduced DNA fragmentation. However, neurons were only protected from apoptosis up to 24 h after potassium withdrawal, but not at later time points, suggesting that IAPs delay but do not block apoptosis in cerebellar granule neurons. In contrast, treatment with 100 microM or 1 mM glutamate did not induce caspase activity and adenoviral-mediated expression of IAPs had no influence on subsequent excitotoxic cell death.  相似文献

Pseudomonas putida GJ31 contains an unusual catechol 2,3-dioxygenase that converts 3-chlorocatechol and 3-methylcatechol, which enables the organism to use both chloroaromatics and methylaromatics for growth. A 3.1-kb region of genomic DNA of strain GJ31 containing the gene for this chlorocatechol 2,3-dioxygenase (cbzE) was cloned and sequenced. The cbzE gene appeared to be plasmid localized and was found in a region that also harbors genes encoding a transposase, a ferredoxin that was homologous to XylT, an open reading frame with similarity to a protein of a meta-cleavage pathway with unknown function, and a 2-hydroxymuconic semialdehyde dehydrogenase. CbzE was most similar to catechol 2,3-dioxygenases of the 2.C subfamily of type 1 extradiol dioxygenases (L. D. Eltis and J. T. Bolin, J. Bacteriol. 178:5930-5937, 1996). The substrate range and turnover capacity with 3-chlorocatechol were determined for CbzE and four related catechol 2,3-dioxygenases. The results showed that CbzE was the only enzyme that could productively convert 3-chlorocatechol. Besides, CbzE was less susceptible to inactivation by methylated catechols. Hybrid enzymes that were made of CzbE and the catechol 2, 3-dioxygenase of P. putida UCC2 (TdnC) showed that the resistance of CbzE to suicide inactivation and its substrate specificity were mainly determined by the C-terminal region of the protein.  相似文献

Dried blood spot (DBS) specimens were assessed as an alternative to plasma for human immunodeficiency virus type 1 (HIV-1) serotyping by V3 loop peptide enzyme immunoassay. Nested PCR capable of distinguishing HIV-1 subtypes B and E was used as the reference standard. Ninety-two percent of DBS samples were typeable as either HIV-1 subtype B or E. Serotype results with DBS and plasma were identical for 254 of 257 specimens. A simple DBS collection method provides a convenient alternative for conducting HIV-1 serotype surveillance while retaining sensitivity and specificity.  相似文献
