ABSTRACT

Studies have been performed with the purpose of determining the optimal solvent composition of a Chalmers grouped actinide extraction (CHALMEX) solvent for the selective co-extraction of transuranic elements in a novel Grouped ActiNide EXtraction (GANEX) process. The solvent is composed of 6,6’-bis(5,5,8,8-tetramethyl-5,6,7,8-tetrahydro-benzo-[1,2,4]-triazin-3-yl)-[2,2’]-bipyridine (CyMe4-BTBP) and tri-n-butyl phosphate (TBP) in phenyl trifluoromethyl sulfone (FS-13). The performance of the system has been shown to significantly depend on the ratios of the two extracting agents and the diluent to one another. Furthermore, the performance of the determined optimal solvent (10 mM CyMe4-BTBP in 30% v/v TBP and 70% v/v FS-13) on various simulated PUREX raffinate solutions was tested. It was found that the solvent extracts all transuranic elements with high efficiency and good selectivity with regard to most other elements (fission products/activation products) present in the simulated PUREX raffinate solutions. Moreover, the solvent was found to extract a significant amount of acid. Palladium, silver, and cadmium were co-extracted along with the TRU-radionuclides, which has also been observed in other similar CHALMEX systems. The extraction of plutonium and uranium was preserved for all tested simulated PUREX raffinate solutions compared to experiments using trace amounts.  相似文献

Chromatin organization is developmentally regulated by epigenetic changes mediated by histone-modifying enzymes and chromatin remodeling complexes. In Drosophila melanogaster, the Tip60 chromatin remodeling complex (dTip60) play roles in chromatin regulation, which are shared by evolutionarily-related complexes identified in animal and plants. Recently, it was found that most subunits previously assigned to the dTip60 complex are shared by two related complexes, DOM-A.C and DOM-B.C, defined by DOM-A and DOM-B isoforms, respectively. In this work, we combined classical genetics, cell biology, and reverse genetics approaches to further investigate the biological roles played during Drosophila melanogaster development by a number of subunits originally assigned to the dTip60 complex.  相似文献

In earlier articles, we determined the spatial distributions and concentrations of all pigments used by Van Gogh in his painting Field with Irises near Arles. The colors of some pigments are expected to have changed over time, especially those of chrome yellow, cochineal, and eosin lake. For all pigments in this painting, we made physical paint reconstructions by following historical sources on raw materials and production processes, and we determined their optical properties. We combined this with pigment concentration maps to reconstruct the original colors of the painting digitally. When substituting the reconstruction paints into the calculations, we found that technical‐scientific data was not sufficient to resolve several issues. In those cases, discussions within the broad interdisciplinary team allowed us to make informed decisions. These issues refer to the representation of the sky area, and the original contributions of the red lake pigments to local colors. The digitally reconstructed colors of the painting show that due to discoloring of red lake pigments, the irises in the field have changed from a warm purple to purplish blue, and many pink spots in the field have turned to white. The range of yellows in the field has decreased and partly turned to dark brown. The digital reconstruction gives a better understanding of the color scheme used by Van Gogh when compared to remarks the artist made in letters when describing this painting. Also, the original color composition is seen to be aligned with color theories on which Van Gogh based his work.  相似文献

This paper proposes an efficient and reliable topology optimization method that can obtain a black and white solution with a low objective function value within a few tens of iterations. First of all, a transformation of variables technique is adopted to eliminate the constraints on the design variables. After that, the optimization problem is considered as aiming at the minimum compliance in the space of design variables which is supposed to be solved by iterative method. Based on the idea of the original gradient projection method, the direct gradient projection method (DGP) is proposed. By projecting the negative gradient of objective function directly onto the hypersurface of the constraint, the most promising search direction from the current position is obtained in the vector space spanned by the gradients of objective and constraint functions. In order to get a balance between efficiency and reliability, the step size is constrained in a rational range via a scheme for step size modification. Moreover, a grey elements suppression technique is proposed to lead the optimization to a black and white solution at the end of the process. Finally, the performance of the proposed method is demonstrated by three numerical examples including both 2D and 3D problems in comparison with the typical SIMP method using the optimality criteria algorithm.  相似文献

Effect of damping model on pre-yielding earthquake response of structures   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
The present paper examines differences between responses of single-degree-of-freedom (SDOF) systems with viscous and hysteretic damping to earthquake ground motions. Only responses within yield limits are considered. The structural behavior of SDOF systems with hysteretic damping is modeled by a generalized elasto-slip model of the Masing type. The model leads to a force–displacement relationship similar to that proposed by Ramberg and Osgood. The responses of the two systems are compared for a number of earthquake records. To achieve consistent comparison, parameters of the linear system with viscous damping are determined by the secant stiffness method. In many cases significant differences in the peak displacement responses and energy values have been observed between the systems. This indicates that the prediction of the response of structures to earthquake ground motions before yielding based on linear models with viscous damping may not be as accurate as used to be believed. Tentative estimates of error associated with such predictions are presented.  相似文献

Due to its rheological properties, positive lead-acid battery paste can be difficult to spread on lead current collectors accurately and efficiently under industry machinery and setting. Sodium polymethacrylate dispersant was studied as an effective positive paste additive that could lower the yield stress of the paste without affecting paste density and battery performance. Under a four-blade vane rheometer setup, stress growth and oscillatory amplitude strain sweep experiments evaluated the rheological properties of positive paste with the addition of varying amounts of sodium polymethacrylate. Further, the electrochemical effects of sodium polymethacrylate were also evaluated in 2V batteries by testing positive active material utilization and cycle life.  相似文献

Sequentially linear analysis (SLA), a non-incremental-iterative approach towards finite element simulation of quasi-brittle materials, is based on sequentially identifying a critical integration point in the model, to reduce its strength and stiffness, and the associated critical load multiplier (λcrit), to scale the linear analysis results. In this article, two novel methods are presented to enable SLA simulations for non-proportional loading situations in a three-dimensional fixed smeared crack framework. In the first approach, the cubic function in the load multiplier is analytically solved for real roots using trigonometric solutions or the Cardano method. In the second approach, the load multiplier is expressed as a function of the inclination of a potential damage plane and is deduced using a constrained optimization approach. The first method is preferred over the second for the validation studies due to computational efficiency and accuracy reasons. A three-point bending beam test, with and without prestress, and an RC slab tested in shear, with and without axial loads, are used as benchmarks. The proposed solution method shows good agreement with the experiments in terms of force-displacement curves and damage evolution.  相似文献
