Lake Kasumigaura, which is composed of the two basins (Nishiura and Kitaura), is a large, shallow, hypereutrophic lake. Phytoplankton and water quality records from the past forty years were analysed to elucidate whether or not, when, and what type of certain regime shifts may have occurred, based on using inferential regime shift detectors. Characteristics of the phytoplankton and water quality changes were similar at 6 sampling sites in the two basins, with 20 water quality parameters being classified into four groups, based on cluster analysis. Shifts in dominant plankton groups (DPGs) and water quality occurring almost concomitantly, concentration on the period from 1987 to 1992 (Shift A) and from 1997 to 2001 (Shift B), with those observed for the two basins usually being similar with small differences. Two types of inferential regime shift detectors (sequential t‐test type; Rodionov's RSD and sequential F‐test type: package strucchange in R) yielded similar timings and significances of the shifts. Furthermore, changes in skewness and conditional heteroskedasticity (package early warnings in R) usually represented early warning signals before the shifts. Correlation analysis and ratios of dissolved inorganic nitrogen (DIN) vs. total phosphorus (TP) supported the hypothesis that phosphorus was the phytoplankton biomass limiting nutrient, except for one period for the Nishiura basin. Neither the nitrogen:phosphorus (N/P) ratio hypothesis and ammonia–nitrate (NH4‐N/NO3‐N) hypothesis satisfactorily explain the DPGs before and after Shift A (Microcystis spp. and Planktothrix spp., respectively), although it may be possible that these ratios triggered the DPG change in this shift. A considerable increase in silicon was observed for Shift B when the DPGs changed from cyanobacteria to diatoms. Further studies on the accurate types and triggers of the regime shifts are necessary to better understand the interactions between ecosystem and water quality for this and similar lakes elsewhere.  相似文献

This study demonstrates, for the first time, the principle of nuclear transmutation of minor actinide (MA) by the accelerator-driven system (ADS) through the injection of high-energy neutrons into the subcritical core at the Kyoto University Critical Assembly. The main objective of the experiments is to confirm fission reactions of neptunium-237 (237Np) and americium-241 (241Am), and capture reactions of 237Np. Subcritical irradiation of 237Np and 241Am foils is conducted in a hard spectrum core with the use of the back-to-back fission chamber that obtains simultaneously two signals from specially installed test (237Np or 241Am) and reference (uranium-235) foils. The first nuclear transmutation of 237Np and 241Am by ADS soundly implemented by combining the subcritical core and the 100 MeV proton accelerator, and the use of a lead-bismuth target, is conclusively demonstrated through the experimental results of fission and capture reaction events.  相似文献

A “smart house” is a highly energy‐optimized house equipped with photovoltaic (PV) systems, electric battery systems, fuel cell (FC) cogeneration systems, electric vehicles (EVs), and so on. Smart houses are attracting much attention recently because of their enhanced ability to save energy by making full use of renewable energy and by achieving power grid stability despite an increased power draw for installed PV systems. Yet running a smart house's power system, with its multiple power sources and power storages, is no simple task. In this paper, we consider the problem of power scheduling for a smart house with a PV system, an FC cogeneration system, and an EV. We formulate the problem as a mixed‐integer programming problem, and then extend it to a stochastic programming problem involving recourse costs to cope with uncertain electricity demand, heat demand, and PV power generation. Using our method, we seek to achieve the optimal power schedule running at the minimum expected operation cost. We present some results of numerical experiments with data on real‐life demands and PV power generation to show the effectiveness of our method. © 2013 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Summary Conventional solution polycondensation of adipoyl chloride with ethidium bromide provided a new polyamide containing ethidium bromide in a polymer main chain. The polyamide was characterized by TGA, DSC, solubility, and absorption and fluorescent spectroscopy. A Good optical-quality film was obtained from HFIP solution of the polyamide. The polyamide showed blue-shift in the absorption band and high fluorescent intensity compared with ethidium bromide. Biopolyurethane prepared from liquefied wood with the residue of the liquefied wood product was investigated in this article. Previous results indicated that the residue of the liquefaction product was composed mostly of compounds originated from lignin. The chemical structures of lignin in softwood and hardwood are different. The influence of soft‐ and hardwood species on the chemical structure and mechanical properties of biopolyurethane prepared from liquefied wood with residue was investigated by tensile testing and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy. The experimental results showed that the liquefaction of softwood occurs within a shorter time than that of hardwood and the biopolyurethane prepared from softwood was harder than that prepared from hardwood, which suggests that the properties of the liquefaction product and biopolyurethane are influenced by the chemical structure of the lignin. © 2010 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. The natural course and the clinical significance of hepatitis G virus (HGV) infection were investigated in 106 pediatric patients who received chemotherapy for hematological malignancy or underwent bone marrow transplantation (BMT) using HGV-RNA and antibodies to the HGV-E2 protein (anti-E2). HGV markers were detected in 21 patients (19.8%; HGV-RNA in 19 and anti-E2 in 2). Longitudinal analysis of these HGV-infected patients showed that 1 had anti-E2 before the initial blood transfusion, 14 had persistent viremia, and 6 became clear of circulating HGV-RNA after completion of therapy, although 5 of the 6 HGV-cleared patients never developed anti-E2. Reactivation of HGV infection during chemotherapy was observed in two anti-E2-positive, HGV-RNA-negative patients; the reappearance of the same HGV strain was confirmed by phylogenetic analysis. Among BMT survivors without other known causes of liver dysfunction, HGV-RNA-positive patients had a higher peak serum alanine amino transferase (ALT) value than negative patients. Contrary to previous reports, immunosuppressed patients can apparently recover from HGV infection without detectable anti-E2 and some patients who supposedly recovered from HGV infection can nonetheless suffer exacerbation when subsequently immunosuppressed.  相似文献

We have designed a colorimetric conjugated polymer (PDMAp) for selective ATP sensing based on poly(2,5-dimethoxyaniline) bearing phthalimide which can form hydrogen bonds with adenine. PDMAp have been synthesized via chemical oxidative polymerization with CSA and DDQ and dedoping with an aqueous ammonia solution. PDMAp was displayed to signal the colorimetric selective detection for ATP over various nucleotides such as ADP, AMP, CTP, TTP, and GTP in DMSO–water (9:1, v/v) mixture. The absorption spectral change can be attributed to a doping process of ATP to PDMAp through hydrogen bonds between phthalimide and adenine as well as electrostatic interactions between the phosphate group of ATP and the backbone of PDMAp.  相似文献

The heterogeneous nature of hardwood lignin was shown by visualizing the deposition process of p-hydroxyphenyl (H) lignin in the differentiating xylem of magnolia, beech, lilac and poplar. When p-glucocoumaryl alcohol-[arom. ring-2-3H], an efficient precursor of H units in lignin, was administered to the differentiating xylem of these trees, radioactivity was incorporated in the compound middle lamella region of vessel and fiber cell walls. The deposition of H units occurs only in the early stage of cell wall formation when the outer layer of the secondary wall is formed. H lignin deposits mainly within pectic substances and hemicellulose gel to form a highly condensed structural moiety.  相似文献
