Three different ABA‐type triblock copolymers each containing biodegradable aliphatic polycarbonate as the middle block and poly(l ‐lactide) as the outer blocks were synthesized and the influence of the methylene chain length of the aliphatic polycarbonate middle block on various properties of the triblock copolymers was evaluated. Differential scanning calorimetry and wide‐angle X‐ray diffraction studies revealed that the incorporation of the outer blocks reduced the crystallinity of the middle aliphatic polycarbonate block. Variation of methylene chain length of the middle block led to a change in morphology from spherical to cylindrical as evidenced from atomic force microscopy studies. In addition, the mechanical properties of the block copolymers showed semi‐ductile to quasi‐brittle behaviour depending upon the composition of the middle block which was also confirmed using scanning electron microscopy. Dynamic mechanical analysis of the triblock copolymers indicated that storage modulus increased with a decrease in methylene chain length. © 2018 Society of Chemical Industry 相似文献

A tubelike, naturally occurring halloysite clay mineral (HNTs) incorporated polyphosphazene (PPZ) elastomeric nanocomposites had been electron beam radiated and thermally treated for certain applications. To improve the dispersion of raw HNTs (H), an organosilane modifier had been exploited. Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) and X-ray diffraction (XRD) technique were utilized for plausible interaction and intercalation. The efficiency of electron beam radiation over chemical initiation for intra and inter chain network formation within the resin was substantiated through oil and solvent resistance studies. In this paper, we propose a distributed topology management algorithm, named T‐Must, which orchestrates coalition formation game between camera and scalar sensor (SS) nodes, for use in wireless multimedia sensor networks. In the proposed solution, connectivity among the peer camera sensor (CS) nodes is maintained, and coverage is ensured between them. Only the scalar data are not sufficient to describe an event in a particular monitored area. In many cases, multimedia data (specifically, video data) are required to provide more precise information about the event. As the CS nodes, which sense and transmit multimedia data, are costlier than the SS nodes, the former are deployed in the monitored area in lesser numbers compared to the latter ones. In case of CS nodes, power consumption due to sensing is also significant, similar to power consumption for the transmission and reception of packets. Therefore, in this work, in order to increase the network lifetime, topology is controlled by forming coalition between the CS and SS nodes. Upon occurrence of an event, the SS nodes send scalar data to their associated CS nodes. If the scalar data received from SS nodes cross a preconfigured threshold, the associated CS node in the coalition starts sensing the event, captures the video data, and forwards the video data toward other coalitions or sink. Reinforcing bars, popularly termed “rebars,” are used to impart tensile strength to concrete structures. Concrete has high resistance to weathering and fire and high compressive strength but almost no tensile strength, hence rebars are used to provide the latter to concrete. Property consistency along the length of rebars is an important prerequisite. When the finished product is subjected to thermomechanical treatment (TMT), proper control of rolling and water box parameters and efficient pinch rolling are needed to achieve acceptable properties. Variation of yield strength (YS) along TMT bars from the front to back end has been observed within the same heat treatment. In the presented investigation, it was observed that pinch rolling ineffectiveness is the main reason for the poor mechanical properties at the back end. The pinch roller was unable to support the back end of the TMT bars properly to maintain the speed and tension of the bars, resulting in nonuniform cooling of the back end through the water box and subsequent mechanical property failure. Due to the substandard material of the pinch roller, it was unable to hold the back end of the bar properly. Based on analysis of the roller it was concluded that it failed due to improper microstructure, resulting in inadequate hardness and toughness for the stringent operating conditions. AISI H13 is a better material to use in such high-service-temperature conditions. Moreover, proper heat treatment is needed to achieve adequate hardness and microstructure properties. After proper heat treatment of pinch rollers, their service life was increased twofold, minimizing the YS variation along the rebars. 相似文献

In this investigation, biogas (BG) was used as an alternative fuel in a single-cylinder, four-stroke, air-cooled, direct injection (DI) diesel engine that was operated on a dual fuel mode. Biogas was produced from a non-edible seed de-oiled cake-pongamia pinnata (Karanja), which was collected from the biodiesel industries. The BG was inducted along with the air in suction of the engine at four different flow rates varying from 0.3?kg/h to 1.2?kg/h in steps of 0.3?kg/h. The investigation results revealed that BG inducted at a flow rate of 0.9?kg/h gives better combustion characteristics of engine behaviour than those of other flows throughout the engine operation. The ignition delay (ID) and combustion duration of the engine run by dual fuel operation at a BG flow rate of 0.9?kg/h were found to be longer by about 2 °CA and 2.9 °CA, respectively, in comparison with diesel at full load. The cylinder peak pressure was found to be overall higher by about 11?bar than that of diesel at full load. 相似文献

This article presents a multi-objective (maximization of availability and minimization of maintenance cost) preventive maintenance (PM) scheduling model for a continuous operating series system (COSS) which do not provide an off-working period for PM. The objective functions are optimized by using a Multi-Objective Genetic Algorithm (MOGA). The effectiveness of the model is demonstrated through a coal-fired boiler-tube. Thermo-mechanical properties and erosion performance of short carbon fibre reinforced vinyl ester resin based isotropic polymer composites with four different fibre weight fractions have been investigated. The storage, loss and damping characteristics were analysed to assess the energy absorption/viscous recoverable energy dissipation and reinforcement efficiency of the composites as a function of fibre content in the temperature range of 0–140 °C. The composite with 30 wt.% of short carbon fibres has been observed to exhibit superior thermo-mechanical response with highest energy dissipation/damping ability accompanied with a constant storage modulus without any substantial decay till 60 °C. The erosion rates (Er) of these composites are evaluated at different impingement angles (30–90°), fibre loadings (20–50 wt.%), impact velocities (43–76 m/s), stand-off distances (55–85 mm) and erodent sizes (250–600 μm) following the erosion test schedule in an air jet type test rig. An optimal parameter combination is determined and subsequently validated for erosion rate minimization following Taguchi method and by conducting confirmation experiments. A correlation between the loss-modulus inverse and the erosion rate has been observed which conceptually establishes a possible mechanistic equivalence between erosion and dynamic mechanical loading modes. The morphologies of eroded surface are examined by the scanning electron microscopy to investigate the nature of wear-craters, material damage mode and other qualitative attributes responsible for promoting erosion. 相似文献

Aqueous synthesis of CdS quantum dots (QDs) using thiolactic acid (TLA) as a capping agent was reported. These QDs exhibited excellent colloidal and photostability over a span of 2 years and showed intense broadband and almost white photoluminescence suitable for solid state lighting devices. The photoluminescence (PL) property of the aqueous CdS QDs is optimized by adjusting various processing parameters. The highest quantum yield (QY) achieved for TLA capped CdS QDs of average size 3.5 nm was ∼50%. Luminescence lifetime measurements of CdS-TLA QDs indicated longer lifetimes and a larger contribution of the surface-related emission, indicating removal of quenching defects. 相似文献
