Reactive extraction was experimentally investigated for recovery of gallic acid (GA) from the aqueous solution using tri-n-octylamine (TOA) as extractant in hexanol. All experiments were carried out according to statistical design in order to develop a regression model used to optimize the extraction of GA. Two independent variables were selected as: initial concentration of GA (CGA0) in aqueous phase and concentration of TOA (CTOA) in organic phase. The statistical analysis showed that both the independent variables had significant effect on response value, followed by the quadratic and interactive effect on response. A five-level central composite rotatable design (CCRD) was employed. Analysis of variance (ANOVA) showed a high coefficient of determination (R2?=?99.0%). The optimal extraction conditions of GA were determined as: CGA0?=?2.01?g/L, CTOA?=?6.8% v/v. At the optimum conditions, the experimental yield of GA was 91.9%, which was in close agreement with the predicted value of 93.2%. 相似文献

In the present investigation, soft materials, such as Al-4Mg alloy, high-purity Al and pure Mg pins were slid against hard
steel plates of various surface textures to study the response of materials during sliding. The experiments were conducted
using an inclined pin-on-plate sliding apparatus under both dry and lubricated conditions in an ambient environment. Two kinds
of frictional response, namely steady-state and stick-slip, were observed during sliding. In general, the response was dependent
on material pair, normal load, lubrication, and surface texture of the harder material. More specifically, for the case of
Al-4Mg alloy, the stick-slip response was absent under both dry and lubricated conditions. For Al, stick-slip was observed
only under lubricated conditions. For the case of Mg, the stick-slip response was seen under both dry and lubricated conditions.
Further, it was observed that the amplitude of stick-slip motion primarily depends on the plowing component of friction. The
plowing component of friction was the highest for the surfaces that promoted plane strain conditions and was the lowest for
the surfaces that promoted plane stress conditions near the surface. 相似文献

Itaconic acid finds a place in various industrial applications. It can be produced by biocultivation in a clean and environment friendly route but recovery of the acid from the dilute stream of the bioreactor is an economic problem. Reactive extraction is a promising method to recover carboxylic acid but suffers from toxicity problems of the diluent and extractant employed. So there is need for a non‐toxic extractant and diluent or a combination of less toxic extractants in a non‐toxic diluent that can recover acid efficiently. Effect of different extractants: tri‐n‐butylphosphate (TBP) (an organophosporous compound) and Aliquat 336 (a quaternary amine) in sunflower oil was studied to find the best extractant–sunflower oil combination. Equilibrium complexation constant, KE, values of 1.789 and 2.385 m3 kmol?1, respectively, were obtained for itaconic acid extraction using TBP and Aliquat 336 in sunflower oil. Assembly consisting of cast and wrought aluminum alloys has wide spread application in defense and aero space industries. For the efficacious use of the transition joints, the weld should have adequate strength and formability. In the present investigation, A356 and 6061 aluminum alloys were friction stir welded under tool rotational speed of 1000–1400 rpm and traversing speed of 80–240 mm/min, keeping other parameters same. The variable process window is responsible for the change in total heat input and cooling rate during welding. Structural characterization of the bonded assemblies exhibits recovery-recrystallization in the stirring zone and breaking of coarse eutectic network of Al–Si. Dispersion of fine Si rich particles, refinement of 6061 grain size, low residual stress level and high defect density within weld nugget contribute towards the improvement in bond strength. Lower will be the tool rotational and traversing speed, more dominant will be the above phenomena. Therefore, the joint fabricated using lowest tool traversing and rotational speed, exhibits substantial improvement in bond strength (∼98% of that of 6061 alloy), which is also maximum with respect to others. 相似文献

Structural modifications in the zircon and scheelite phases of ThGeO4 induced by swift heavy ions (93 MeV Ni7+) at different fluences as well as pressure quenching effects are reported. X-ray diffraction and Raman measurements at room temperature on the irradiated zircon phase of ThGeO4 indicate the occurrence of stresses that lead to a reduction of the cell volume up to 2% followed by its transformation to a mixture of nano-crystalline and amorphous scheelite phases. Irradiation of the zircon phase at liquid nitrogen temperature induces amorphization at a lower fluence (7.5 × 1016 ions/m2), as compared to that at room temperature (6 × 1017 ions/m2). Scheelite type ThGeO4 irradiated at room temperature undergoes complete amorphization at a lower fluence of 7.5 × 1016 ions/m2 without any volume reduction. The track radii deduced from X-ray diffraction measurements on room temperature irradiated zircon, scheelite and low temperature irradiated zircon phases of ThGeO4 are, 3.9, 3.5 and 4.5 nm, respectively. X-ray structural investigations on the zircon phase of ThGeO4 recovered after pressurization to about 3.5 and 9 GPa at ambient temperature show the coexistence of zircon and disordered scheelite phases with a larger fraction of scheelite phase occurring at 9 GPa. On the other hand, the scheelite phase quenched from 9 GPa shows crystalline scheelite phase pattern. 相似文献

The effect of microfillers on the thermal stability of natural rubber (NR), carboxylated styrene butadiene rubber (XSBR) latices, and their 70/30 NR/XSBR blend were studied using thermogravimetric method. Microcomposites of XSBR and their blend were found to be thermally more stable than unfilled samples. The activation energy needed for the degradation of polymer chain was calculated from Coats‐Redfern plot. Activation energy needed for the thermal degradation of filled samples was higher than unfilled system. It indicated the improved thermal stability of the filled samples. The ageing resistance of the micro‐filled samples was evaluated from the mechanical properties of aged samples. The thermal ageing was carried out by keeping the samples in hot air oven for 7 days at 70°C. The mechanical properties such as tensile strength, modulus at 300% elongation, and strain at break were computed. As compared to unfilled samples, micron‐sized fillers reinforced systems exhibited higher ageing resistance. Finally, an investigation was made on the influence of ion‐beam irradiation on microcomposites of NR, XSBR latices, and their 70/30 blend systems using 28Si8+ performed at 100 MeV. The surface changes of the samples after irradiation were analyzed using X‐ray photoelectron spectroscopy. The results of XPS measurements revealed that the host elements were redistributed without any change in binding energies of C1s, O1s, and Si2p. © 2007 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Fretting is essentially a surface phenomenon, but bulk stresses and material properties contribute to subsequent failure.
This feature of fretting demands a thorough understanding of near surface stresses under the joint action of normal, shear and thermal loading. Axisymmetric fretting is of great concern in piping
and coupling design. In this paper, we develop design tools for Near Surface Analysis (NSA) for understanding axisymmetric
fretting. Axisymmetric Fretting Analysis (AFA) becomes formidable owing to localised tractions that call for Fourier transform
techniques. We develop two different NSA strategies based on two-dimensional plane strain models: 2D strip model (2DS) and
half-plane Flamant model (2DF). We compare the results of 2DS and 2DF with the exact results for AFA obtained using Love’s
stress function in conjunction with Fourier transform. There is a good correspondence between stress components obtained from
