Passion is defined as a strong inclination toward an activity that people like, that they find important, and in which they invest time and energy. Two types of passion are proposed: obsessive and harmonious. Obsessive passion (OP) refers to a controlled internalization of an activity in one's identity that creates an internal pressure to engage in the activity that the person likes. Harmonious passion (HP) refers to an autonomous internalization that leads individuals to choose to engage in the activity that they like. HP promotes healthy adaptation whereas OP thwarts it by causing negative affect and rigid persistence. Results from four studies involving more than 900 participants from different populations supported the proposed conceptualization. For bioelectromagnetic studies, a complete dosimetry is essential for optimised experiments and for analysis of the biological results. In this paper, we focused on the numerical dosimetry based on electromagnetic, thermal and convection simulations. The finite difference time domain (FDTD) method is used to obtain electromagnetic fields and specific absorption rate (SAR) distributions. Often metallic losses exist and cannot be neglected, and they are considered with SAR spatial distribution to evaluate temperature elevation. Time-scaled algorithms of heat transfer equation and incompressible Navier–Stokes equations applied to in vitro bioelectromagnetic studies are presented. For hydrodynamic thermal convection, the biological medium density has to be considered variable and the heat masses can move. Two different in vitro exposure systems are presented. A test tube with high temperature gradient induced in the biological medium is studied and illustrate convection phenomena. A wire patch cell with metallic elements highlights the role of metallic losses in the increase of temperature.  相似文献

Although compensation specialists generally argue for incentive systems that link rewards to performance, self-determination theory argues that such contingent rewards can have detrimental effects on autonomous motivation. The authors present a model of the motivational effects of compensation systems that attempts to reconcile the self-determination theory view and the literature on compensation. This model evaluates how compensation system characteristics, such as the amount and variability of pay, can influence the satisfaction of the needs for autonomy, competence, and relatedness, which in turn influence autonomous work motivation. Reviews the book, Economics and psychology: A promising new cross-disciplinary field edited by Bruno S. Frey and Alois Stutzer (see record 2007-00637-000). The editors' goal in this book was to review some recent applications of psychological theories in the field of economics. Given economics' high reliance on agency theory, this book provides a fresh look into what standard economics has had a difficult time explaining: what economists have called "errors" in individual behaviour and decision making. The gist of the book focuses on showing that these errors are in fact part of the human make-up, and the contributors use psychological theories and evidence to build a new economics paradigm. The book purports to question the assumption of the human as a rational being, to show the value of experimental methods in economics, and to make well-being a worthy outcome in economics. This book is of interest to economists who have an interest in microeconomics and want to break free from the narrow focus of agency theory. It is also of interest to psychologists who want to extend their work on prosocial behaviour and well-being to include economic and institutional considerations as part of their accounts. Drug loaded porous calcium phosphate bone substitutes are studied for targeted drug delivery applications. In this study, porous hydroxyapatite and beta-tricalcium phosphate pellets were investigated as anti-inflammatory drug carriers and their ibuprofen adsorption and release properties were compared. While the adsorption equilibrium time of 1 h was obtained for both pellets, hydroxyapatite pellets showed a higher adsorption capacity than beta-tricalcium phosphate. The physico-chemical characterisations of loaded pellets confirmed an ibuprofen reversible physisorption on both hydroxyapatite and beta-tricalcium phosphate pellets. Moreover, higher adsorption capacity of hydroxyapatite was attributed to their physical differences. The in vitro ibuprofen release evaluation showed 100% release of ibuprofen from both hydroxyapatite and beta-tricalcium phosphate pellets which was found to be compatible with the obtained interactions between the pellets and ibuprofen.  相似文献

The adsorbability of bovine serum albumin (BSA) onto poly(styrene‐co‐itaconic acid) (PS–IA), poly(styrene‐co‐hydroxyethyl methacrylate) (PS–HEMA), poly(styrene‐co‐acrylic acid) (PS–AA), and poly(styrene‐co‐methacrylic acid) (PS–MAA) latices were investigated with a quartz crystal microbalance. The amount adsorbed onto the functionalized latices, except for PS–MAA, was greater than that adsorbed onto polystyrene (PS) latex. To explain this result, two kinds of interaction forces were considered, hydrogen bonding and hydrophobic interactions, whereas electrostatic interaction was assumed to be small. When comparing the two extremes of hydrophobic interaction and hydrogen bonding, the latter was stronger. The corrected adsorption mass suggested that the BSA molecules were adsorbed onto the PS–MAA latex in a side‐on mode. However, in the case of the PS, PS–IA, PS–HEMA, and PS–AA latices, the BSA molecules were probably adsorbed in multiple layers. The presence of the BSA in the latex particle surface was verified by attenuated total reflectance/Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy and atomic force microscopy. © 2015 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
