The perpetual energy production of a wind farm could be accomplished (under proper weather conditions) if no failures occurred. But even the best possible design, manufacturing, and maintenance of a system cannot eliminate the failure possibility. In order to understand and minimize the system failures, the most crucial components of the wind turbines, which are prone to failures, should be identified. Moreover, it is essential to determine and classify the criticality of the system failures according to the impact of these failure events on wind turbine safety. The present study is processing the failure data from a wind farm and uses the Fault Tree Analysis as a baseline for applying the Design Structure Matrix technique to reveal the failure and risk interactions between wind turbine subsystems. Based on the analysis performed and by introducing new importance measures, the “readiness to fail” of a subsystem in conjunction with the “failure riskiness” can determine the “failure criticality.” The value of the failure criticality can define the frame within which interventions could be done. The arising interventions could be applied either to the whole system or could be focused in specified pairs of wind turbine subsystems. In conclusion, the method analyzed in the present research can be effectively applied by the wind turbine manufacturers and the wind farm operators as an operation framework, which can lead to a limited (as possible) design‐out maintenance cost, failures' minimization, and safety maximization for the whole wind turbine system.  相似文献

This paper presents a multimedia streaming platform for efficiently transmitting MPEG‐4 content over IP networks. The platform includes an MPEG‐4 compliant streaming server and client, supporting object‐based representation of multimedia scenes, interactivity, and advanced encoding profiles defined by the ISO standard. For scalability purposes, we employ an application‐layer multicast scheme for media transmission using overlay networks. The overlay network, governed by the central entity of the network distribution manager, is dynamically deployed according to a set of pre‐defined criteria. The overlay network supports both broadcast delivery and video‐on‐demand content. The multimedia streaming platform is standards‐compliant and utilizes widespread multimedia protocols such as MPEG‐4, real‐time transport protocol, real‐time transport control protocol, and real‐time streaming protocol. The design of the overlay network was architected with the goal of transparency to both the streaming server and the client. As a result, many commercial implementations that use industry‐standard protocols can be plugged into the architecture relatively painlessly and can enjoy the benefits of the platform.  相似文献

Asbestos fibres, of the chrysotile variety, and chopped carbon fibres were pretreated by an in-situ polycondensation technique eventually resulting in a polyamide coating on the fibre surface. Ionomer based composites containing either carbon or asbestos fibres in random in plane fibre orientation were prepared, and the influence of this coating process on the tensile properties was investigated. It was found that for the asbestos-filled composites the presence of the nylon 6,6 interlayer improves the tensile performance, especially at moderate polyamide depositions. This is not the case with the pretreated carbon-filled composites for which carbon fibres with higher polyamide contents are preferred. Combinations of the treated asbestos fibres with carbon and/or aramid fibres may be used to reduce the asbestos content in asbestos-only based engineering plastics.  相似文献

Precision investment casting process planning has been tackled in the past according to experience. Recently, casting simulation software is being increasingly used to predict product quality by implementing ‘what-if’ scenarios. Input parameters include relatively simple factors such as mould temperature, melting temperature, casting material. They also include factors whose influence is more complex to quantify, such number and location of feeding points, diameter and length of inflow channels, angle of channel with respect to the main sprue axis. Simulation results cannot help the engineer for workpieces other than the one simulated. In this paper a series of feedforward artificial neural network (ANN) models is presented aiming at such generalisation. To achieve this, a large number of software simulation runs were conducted for a number of different small parts, with varying runner geometry and casting conditions. The parameters characterising part geometry have been chosen to be surface area and volume-to-area ratio. The different ANN models predictive capabilities are reflected to the respective training and generalisation errors. A user-friendly interface has been conducted for model execution in a complete application, whose main virtue is expandability.  相似文献

In this paper, the strictly convex quadratic program (QP) arising in model predictive control (MPC) for constrained linear systems is reformulated as a system of piecewise affine equations. A regularized piecewise smooth Newton method with exact line search on a convex, differentiable, piecewise-quadratic merit function is proposed for the solution of the reformulated problem. The algorithm has considerable merits when applied to MPC over standard active set or interior point algorithms. Its performance is tested and compared against state-of-the-art QP solvers on a series of benchmark problems. The proposed algorithm is orders of magnitudes faster, especially for large-scale problems and long horizons. For example, for the challenging crude distillation unit model of Pannocchia, Rawlings, and Wright (2007) with 252 states, 32 inputs, and 90 outputs, the average running time of the proposed approach is 1.57 ms.  相似文献

Biaxially oriented films of polyvinylidene fluoride [-(CH2-CF2) n -...; PVDF] of thickness 25 m, originally containing both the and crystal forms, have been corona charged at room temperature to surface potentials of up to 10 kV using positive and negative corona. The behaviour of the optical density of the -form infra-red band at 796 cm–1, measured in the transmission mode, was found to be inverse to that of the piezoelectric coefficient, g 31, with increasing charging voltage. Attenuated total reflection (ATR) measurements on the same samples indicated that the extent of poling close to the surface which received the corona charge was less than that close to the earthed surface and less than that of the bulk. The results support a mechanism of dipole orientation for the origin of piezoelectricity in PVDF.  相似文献

The present paper describes a new design for a microcontrolled three-way catalyst efficiency monitoring system. The system is based on the Motorola 68HC11e2 microprocessor and utilizes the differential signal from a pair of thermocouples installed at the catalyst outlet and inlet sections. This signal is processed in real time using an appropriate statistical algorithm and the corresponding results are compared to experimentally determined limiting values to assess the current state of the catalyst efficiency during driving conditions. The result of this comparison is presented on an LCD display as an A, B, C, or FAIL catalyst condition signal. The system can be readily installed and can operate on new and used cars provided that the type of catalyst used has been experimentally tested to provide the necessary limiting values that characterize its relative levels of efficiency. It can also be reprogrammed and calibrated via a RS232C serial interface.  相似文献

With recent advances in real-time implementations of filters for solving the simultaneous localization and mapping (SLAM) problem in the range-sensing domain, attention has shifted to implementing SLAM solutions using vision-based sensing. This paper presents and analyses different models of the Rao-Blackwellised particle filter (RBPF) for vision-based SLAM within a comprehensive application architecture. The main contributions of our work are the introduction of a new robot motion model utilizing structure from motion (SFM) methods and a novel mixture proposal distribution that combines local and global pose estimation. In addition, we compare these under a wide variety of operating modalities, including monocular sensing and the standard odometry-based methods. We also present a detailed study of the RBPF for SLAM, addressing issues in achieving real-time, robust and numerically reliable filter behavior. Finally, we present experimental results illustrating the improved accuracy of our proposed models and the efficiency and scalability of our implementation.  相似文献
