ResearchGate has emerged as a popular professional network for scientists and researchers in a very short span. Similar to Google Scholar, the ResearchGate indexing uses an automatic crawling algorithm that extracts bibliographic data, citations, and other information about scholarly articles from various sources. However, it has been observed that the two platforms often show different publication and citation data for the same institutions, journals, and authors. While several previous studies analysed different aspects of ResearchGate and Google Scholar, the quantum of differences in publications, citations, and metrics between the two and the probable reasons for the same are not explored much. This article, therefore, attempts to bridge this research gap by analysing and measuring the differences in publications, citations, and different metrics of the two platforms for a large data set of highly cited authors. The results indicate that there are significantly high differences in publications and citations for the same authors captured by the two platforms, with Google Scholar having higher counts for a vast majority of the cases. The different metrics computed by the two platforms also differ in their values, showing different degrees of correlation. The coverage policy, indexing errors, author attribution mechanism, and strategy to deal with predatory publishing are found to be the main probable reasons for the differences in the two platforms.

Critical micelle concentration (CMC) is a fundamental physical parameter of surfactant aggregation in solution. The CMC is determined by different methods, tensiometry, conductometry, microcalorimetry, fluorimetry, and so on. However, it is known that though CMC is reported as a single value, in reality, micelle formation occurs over a narrow range of concentration for different experimental procedures produce different results. We shall discuss about a unique procedure of measuring correct CMC applicable to all potential methods used in practice. This is essential for the evaluation of thermodynamic properties of the micelle forming process in pure and mixed states in terms of solution theories. As we in this short documentary want to deal with various aspects of Milton Rosen's research—wherein we have also worked—a few other facets of surfactant chemistry research, besides the micelle formation, are also briefly discussed. In mixed surfactant systems, synergistic effects in various surfactant properties like detergency, foaming, solubilization, and so on are found whereas in some others non-synergistic effects are observed. Dehydration of micelles with an increase in temperature or by the addition of hydrophilic substances may cause clouding to the system. Soluble amphiphilic systems produce Gibbs monolayer at the air/water interface; insoluble amphiphiles form Langmuir monolayers. A documentary of the above aspects will be herein presented and discussed. We mention that this article is neither an original research article nor a review article. This is a mixture of the two: a documentary of both original research and some review of our works presented in memory of Prof. Milton Rosen.  相似文献

This paper proposes a simple yet accurate method for estimating the antenna correlation coefficient (ACC) of a high-order multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) antenna. The conventional method employed to obtain the ACC from three-dimensional radiation patterns is costly and difficult to measure. An alternate method is to use the S-parameters, which can be easily measured using a network analyzer. However, this method assumes that the antennas are highly efficient, and it is therefore not suitable for lossy MIMO antenna arrays. To overcome this limitation, we define and utilize the non-coupled radiation efficiency in the S-parameter-based ACC formula. The accuracy of the proposed method is verified by the simulation results of a 4-port highly coupled lossy MIMO array. Further, the proposed method can be applied to N-port arrays by expanding the calculation matrix.  相似文献

The tensile fracture behavior of oxide dispersion strengthened 18Cr (ODS-18Cr) ferritic steels milled for varying times was studied along with the oxide-free 18Cr steel (NODS) at 25, 200, 400, 600, and 800 °C. At all the test temperatures, the strengths of ODS–18Cr steels increased and total elongation decreased with the duration of milling time. Oxide dispersed 18Cr steel with optimum milling exhibited enhanced yield strength of 156 pct at room temperature and 300 pct at 800 °C when compared to oxide-free 18Cr steel. The ductility values of ODS-18Cr steels are in the range 20 to 35 pct for a temperature range 25 to 800 °C, whereas NODS alloy exhibited higher ductility of 37 to 82 pct. The enhanced strength of ODS steels when compared to oxide-free steel is due to the development of ultrafine grained structure along with nanosized dispersion of complex oxide particles. While the pre-necking elongation decreased with increasing temperature and milling time, post-necking elongation showed no change with the test temperature. Fractographic examination of both ODS and NODS 18Cr steel fractured tensile samples, revealed that the failure was in ductile fracture mode with distinct neck and shear lip formation for all milling times and at all test temperatures. The fracture mechanism is in general followed the sequence; microvoid nucleation at second phase particles, void growth and coalescence. The quantified dimple sizes and numbers per unit area were found to be in linear relation with the size and number density of dispersoids. It is clearly evident that even nanosized dispersoids acted as sites for microvoid nucleation at larger strains and assisted in dimple rupture.

An axisymmetric model is developed to study laser drilling process under a single pulse as well as repetitive laser pulse. The laser pulse irradiated on the surface of the workpiece is volumetric and Gaussian in nature. The laser irradiated surface is subjected to convective‐radiative boundary condition while rest of the surfaces are insulated. Finite volume method is used to discretize the domain under consideration. The resulting algebraic equations are solved with the help of the tridiagonal matrix algorithm to find temperature distribution throughout the domain. The enthalpy‐porosity method is used to track the solid‐liquid interface generated during the laser melting process. Convective heat transfer occurs inside the generated melt pool. The current model is first used to validate the results of the existing literature and as the results agreed well, further studies are made to find out the advantages of using repetitive laser pulse over single pulse laser source for laser drilling process for the same laser energy and total heating duration. Vaporization has been avoided during the process and metal removal occurs through melting only. The present numerical model can provide some insight for practical laser drilling process.  相似文献

The present paper deals with the characterization of a ferroelectric liquid crystal–nanoparticle (FLC–NP) composite system. The dielectric, electrical and polarization property of the FLC–NP composite system have been studied as a function of temperature and frequency. Ferroelectric Cu-doped ZnO (Cu–ZnO) nanoparticles have been added to the pure ferroelectric liquid crystal (FLC) Felix 17/100. The nanoparticles are bigger in size as compared to FLC molecules; therefore, they distort the existing geometry of FLC matrix and set up an antiparallel correlation with the dipole moments of the host FLC molecules. This antiparallel correlation of guest–host geometry reduces the net ferroelectricity of the composite system and modifies all the physical properties of the pure FLC. The change in properties has been analysed and explained in the light of guest–host interaction.  相似文献

Face mining is characterized as the revelation of picture designs in a given congregation of pictures. It is an exertion that generally attracts upon information PC (Personal Computer) vision, picture handling, information mining, AI (Artificial Intelligence), database, and human-made reasoning. Facial acknowledgement breaks down and contemplates the examples from the images of the facial. Facial component extraction is a programmed acknowledgment of human faces by recognizing its highlights, for example, eyebrows, eyes, and lips. In this paper, we are assessing the execution of PCA (Priniciple Component Analysis), GMM (Gaussian Mixture Models), GLCM (Gray Level Co-Occurrence Matrix), and SVM (Support Vector Machines) to perceive seven distinctive outward appearances of two people, for example, angry, sad, happy, disgust, neutral, fear, and surprise in database. Our point is to talk about the best systems that work best for facial acknowledgement. The present investigation demonstrates the plausibility of outward appearance acknowledgement for viable applications like surveillance and human PC communication.
