Lipid accumulation in the human liver seems to be a crucial mechanism in the pathogenesis and the progression of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD). We aimed to evaluate gene expression of different fatty acid (FA) metabolism-related genes in morbidly obese (MO) women with NAFLD. Liver expression of key genes related to de novo FA synthesis (LXRα, SREBP1c, ACC1, FAS), FA uptake and transport (PPARγ, CD36, FABP4), FA oxidation (PPARα), and inflammation (IL6, TNFα, CRP, PPARδ) were assessed by RT-qPCR in 127 MO women with normal liver histology (NL, n = 13), simple steatosis (SS, n = 47) and non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH, n = 67). Liver FAS mRNA expression was significantly higher in MO NAFLD women with both SS and NASH compared to those with NL (p = 0.003, p = 0.010, respectively). Hepatic IL6 and TNFα mRNA expression was higher in NASH than in SS subjects (p = 0.033, p = 0.050, respectively). Interestingly, LXRα, ACC1 and FAS expression had an inverse relation with the grade of steatosis. These results were confirmed by western blot analysis. In conclusion, our results indicate that lipogenesis seems to be downregulated in advanced stages of SS, suggesting that, in this type of extreme obesity, the deregulation of the lipogenic pathway might be associated with the severity of steatosis. 相似文献

In this paper, we study the performance of telecommand space links affected by pulsed, continuous wave and pseudo‐noise jamming. Countermeasures include coding, interleaving, and direct sequence spread spectrum. Binary and non‐binary low‐density parity‐check codes, parallel turbo codes, and soft‐decision decoded BCH codes are considered. We investigate the impact of different decoding algorithms, also taking into account the role of jamming state information, spreading processing gain and interleaving. Single-crystalline hematite (α-Fe2O3) nanorings (short nanotubes) and nanotubes were synthesized by a hydrothermal method. High-resolution transmission electron microscopy and selected-area electron diffraction confirm that the axial directions of both the nanorings and nanotubes are parallel to the crystalline c-axis. Intriguingly, the Morin transition occurs at about 210 K in the short nanotubes with a mean tube length of about 115 nm and a mean outer diameter of about 169 nm. However, it does not occur in the nanotubes with a mean tube length of about 317 nm and a mean outer diameter of about 148 nm. Detailed analysis of magnetization data, X-ray diffraction patterns, and room-temperature Mössbauer spectra demonstrates that this very strong shape-dependence of Morin transition is intrinsic to hematite. We explain this intriguing shape-dependence quantitatively, in terms of the opposite signs of the surface magnetic anisotropy constants of the surface planes parallel and perpendicular to the c-axis. 相似文献

The objective of this study was to determine the evolution of physicochemical and flow properties of a yoghurt‐type beverage partially replaced with a chickpea extract over a period of 22 days. From two chickpea extracts, Blanco Noroeste was selected for its higher protein content. Six yoghurt‐type formulations were prepared, stored at 4 °C and analysed on days 1, 8, 15 and 22. pH was 4.24–4.75, while brightness was 81.7–94.5. Flow properties of the yoghurt‐type exhibited a non‐Newtonian behaviour. From three formulations that underwent sensory evaluation, the 30:70 mix obtained the highest acceptation. This yoghurt‐type beverage exhibited characteristics similar to natural yoghurt. 相似文献

BACKGROUND: Efficient conversion of glucose/xylose mixtures from lignocellulose is necessary for commercially viable ethanol production. Oxygen and carbon sources are of paramount importance for ethanol yield. The aim of this work was to evaluate different glucose/xylose mixtures for ethanol production using S. cerevisiae ITV‐01 (wild type yeast) and P. stipitis NRRL Y‐7124 and the effect of supplying oxygen in separate and co‐culture processes. RESULTS: The complete conversion of a glucose/xylose mixture (75/30 g L?1) was obtained using P. stipitis NRRL Y‐7124 under aerobic conditions (0.6 vvm), the highest yield production being Yp/s = 0.46 g g?1, volumetric ethanol productivity Qpmax = 0.24 g L?1 h?1 and maximum ethanol concentration Pmax = 34.5 g L?1. In the co‐culture process and under aerobic conditions, incomplete conversion of glucose/xylose mixture was observed (20.4% residual xylose), with a maximum ethanol production of 30.3 g L?1, ethanol yield of 0.4 g g?1 and Qpmax = 1.26 g L?1 h?1. CONCLUSIONS: The oxygen present in the glucose/xylose mixture promotes complete sugar consumption by P. stipitis NRRL Y‐7124 resulting in ethanol production. However, in co‐culture with S. cerevisiae ITV‐01 under aerobic conditions, incomplete fermentation occurs that could be caused by oxygen limitation and ethanol inhibition by P. stipitis NRRL Y‐7124; nevertheless the volumetric ethanol productivity increases fivefold compared with separate culture. This work discusses the extension of solid solubility of Cr and Mo in Cu processed by mechanical alloying. Three alloys processed, Cu–5Cr–5Mo, Cu–10Cr–10Mo and Cu–15Cr–15Mo (weight%) using a SPEX mill. Gibbs free energy of mixing values 10, 15 and 20 kJ mol−1 were calculated for these three alloys respectively by using the Miedema's model. The crystallite size decreases and dislocation density increases when the milling time increases, so Gibbs free energy storage in powders increases by the presence of crystalline defects. The energy produced by crystallite boundaries and strain dislocations were estimated and compared with Gibbs free energy of mixing values. The energy storage values by the presence of crystalline defects were higher than Gibbs free energy of mixing at 120 h for Cu–5Cr–5Mo, 130 h for Cu–10Cr–10Mo and 150 h for Cu–15Cr–15Mo. During milling, crystalline defects are produced that increases the Gibbs free energy storage and thus the Gibbs free energy curves are moved upwards and hence the solubility limit changes. Therefore, the three alloys form solid solutions after these milling time, which are supported with the XRD results. 相似文献

The health benefits of phenolic compounds depend on the ingested amount, molecular diversity and gastrointestinal digestibility. The phenolic profile of eight fruits (blackberry, blueberry, strawberry, raspberry, mulberry, pomegranate, green and red globe grapes) was chemometrically associated with their in vitro digestibility (oral, gastric, intestinal). Extractable phenols, flavonoids and anthocyanins strongly correlated with each other (r ≥ 0.84), proanthocyanidins with anthocyanins (r = 0.62) and hydrolysable phenols with both extractable phenols (r = 0.45) and proanthocyanidins (r = ?0.54). Two principal components explained 93% of the variance [61% (free‐phenols), 32% (bounded‐phenols)], and four clusters were confirmed by hierarchical analysis, based in their phenolic richness (CLT 1‐4: low to high) and molecular diversity. In vitro digestibility of extractable phenols and flavonoids was blackberry (CLT‐4)> raspberry (CLT‐2)> red grape (CLT‐1) related to their phenolic richness (r ≥ 0.96; P < 0.001), but anthocyanins’ digestibility was pH‐dependent. Chemometrics is useful to predict the in vitro digestibility of phenolic compounds in the assayed fruits. 相似文献

Rate-controlling mechanisms in the photo-degradation of 5-hydroxymethylfurfural (HMF) were studied applying kinetic and thermodynamic compensations. Aqueous solutions of HMF were prepared at a concentration of 100 mg L?1 and at pH values of 3, 3.4, 4, and 5. The UV irradiation of samples was performed in an installation consisting of a black chamber containing the reactor and a mid-pressure mercury lamp with emission wavelengths between 250 and 740 nm. Every sample was irradiated at 12, 25, 35, and 45 °C for 120 min, analyzing their HMF content each 10 min. The photo-degradation data fitted well to zero-order kinetic model, and the constant values were used to study whether the kinetic and thermodynamic compensation could be applied. The isokinetic temperature was very similar for kinetic compensation (TB?=?278.0 K) and thermodynamic compensation (TB?=?277.8 K). Applying the Leffler’s criterion, the HMF photo-degradation was entropically controlled, probably as a consequence of hydrophobic interactions. In order to check the entropical control, two experiments were repeated at pH 3 but avoiding agitation. As the new obtained kinetic constants were highly different from the values previously obtained using agitation, it can be concluded that the HMF photo-degradation is an entropy-controlled process and can be speeded up by changing non-thermal parameters, like agitation. 相似文献
