In this study, a multi-tubular thermally coupled packed bed reactor in which simultaneous production of ammonia and methyl ethyl ketone (MEK) takes place is simulated. The simulation results are presented in two co-current and counter-current flow modes. Based on this new configuration, the released heat from the ammonia synthesis reaction as an extremely exothermic reaction in the inner tube is employed to supply the required heat for the endothermic 2-butanol dehydrogenation reaction in the outer tube. On the other hand, MEK and hydrogen are produced by the dehydrogenation reaction of 2-butanol in the endothermic side, and the produced hydrogen is used to supply a part of the ammonia synthesis feed in the exothermic side. Thus, 30.72% and 31.88% of the required hydrogen for the ammonia synthesis are provided by the dehydrogenation reaction in the co-current and counter-current configurations, respectively. Also, according to the thermal coupling, the required cooler and furnace for the ammonia synthesis and 2-butanol dehydrogenation conventional plants are eliminated, respectively. As a result, operational costs, energy consumption and furnace emissions are considerably decreased. Finally, a sensitivity analysis and optimization are applied to study the effect of the main process parameters variation on the system performance and obtain the minimum hydrogen make-up flow rate, respectively.  相似文献

 A cell vertex finite volume method for the solution of steady compressible turbulent flow problems on unstructured hybrid meshes of tetrahedra, prisms, pyramids and hexahedra is described. These hybrid meshes are constructed by firstly discretising the computational domain using tetrahedral elements and then by merging certain tetrahedra. A one equation turbulence model is employed and the solution of the steady flow equations is obtained by explicit relaxation. The solution process is accelerated by the addition of a multigrid method, in which the coarse meshes are generated by agglomeration, and by parallelisation. The approach is shown to be effective for the simulation of a number of 3D flows of current practical interest. The paper discusses the postulated suspension force, by which it is possible to explain some enigmatic phenomena observed in different types of mass movements. This force is generated in thick suspensions as a result of friction between sinking solid particles and static water. The suspension force is related to the seepage force but they have opposite directions. Both forces form flow networks. Having explained the suspension force, the paper describes how this influences the movement of material, particularly in debris flows. Rainwater can collect in a lens-shaped region within the rock of a tropical island, and may be separated from the underlying salt water by a sharp interface. This paper presents a nonlinear theory for determining the shape of this interface. The island is assumed to be saturated with rain, and provision is made for the outflow of rain-water through the sides of the island. The effect of a bore well on the shape of the interface is investigated, and the problem is solved using a spectral method. An integral-equation method is also presented for the case when the island has infinite width.  相似文献

Interaction of free-surface waves with floating flexible strips   总被引:2,自引:0,他引:2  
The method developed by the author to derive a set of algebaic equations to solve the interaction of free-surface waves with a single floating rigid or flexible two-dimensional platform with small draft is extended to the case that the platform consists of strips with different constant flexural rigidity and mass. The method is based on the application of Green's theorem, with a specific choice of the Green function to arrive at a differential-integral equation along the platform. This equation can be solved exactly by means of superposition of exponential functions, a standard method to solve a set of linear differential equations. After integration with respect to the space coordinate the residue theorem leads to both the dispersion relation along each individual strip and an algebraic equation for the coefficients. Due to very fast convergence with respect to the number of coefficients taken into account the series are truncated. Depending on the water-depth, in each series three to ten terms are taken into account. Results are shown for a structure consisting of several strips that are tightly connected and for disjoint strips. In the latter case the computation of the water level between the strips is also computed. The water level and the reflection and transmission coefficients are not unknowns in the algebraic equation, but are computed afterwards by means of Green's theorem.  相似文献

In this paper we present some preliminary results about the coupling of shallow water equations for free surface flows and Darcy equation for groundwater flows. A suitable set of interface conditions is discussed: the Beavers and Joseph formula for the bottom stress is used. 本文提出了一种用于恒定流分析的通用数学模型,该模型把任意复杂的输水系统划分为一些简单的单元,对每个单元建立形式相同的单元方程,将单元方程合成,引入边界条件,就可得到系统的总体方程,然后用节点分组解法求解.该模型具有通用性强、计算速度快、计算精度高等优点,实例分析表明,本文的计算方法是正确的、可行的.  相似文献

The free-surface flow due to a submerged source in water of finite depth is considered. The fluid is assumed to be inviscid and incompressible. The problem is solved numerically by using a boundary integral equation formulation due to Hocking and Forbes [6]. The numerical results show that there is a train of waves on the free surface in accordance with the results of Mekias and Vanden-Broeck [5]. For small values of the Froude number, the amplitude of the waves is so small that the free surface is essentially flat in the far field. These waveless profiles agree with the calculations of Hocking and Forbes [6].  相似文献

Few exact solutions of the Stokes equations are known, even for steady or quasi-steady flows, involving finite sized bodies, and numerical techniques generally have to be resorted to for finding solutions. However, quite effective modelling of flows involving complicated boundary geometries is possible using the three-dimensional Stokeslet and rotlet point singularities. Two problems are studied in detail. In the first example, exact solutions for the three-dimensional Stokeslet and rotlet placed axisymmetrically along the axis of a circular disc are found and combined with Brenner's first order interaction formulae to determine the effect of the presence of the disc on the force and torque acting on a particle whose dimensions are small compared with its distance from the disc. The results are compared with those of a full numerical integration of the Stokes equations for a sphere translating towards a disc. In the second example, Brenner's first order wall correction theory is applied to the motion of a particle in a circular cylinder using the exact solutions for a torus translating or rotating in isolation. The theoretical predictions for the drag on a torus settling symmetrically in a circular cylinder are compared with those determined experimentally.  相似文献
