Several hundred workers die in construction in the United States every year because equipment operators are unable to see their fellow workers during operation of their vehicle. In this paper we propose a step towards improving this situation by providing an automated method based on range imaging for estimating the coarse head orientation of a construction equipment operator. This research utilizes commercially-available low resolution range cameras to measure the continuously changing field-of-view (FOV) of an equipment operator in outdoor construction. This paper presents a methodology to measure so-called dynamic blind spot maps. The dynamic blind spot map is then projected on a known static equipment blind spot map that already exists to each construction vehicle. A robust computational coarse head pose estimation algorithm and results to three different pieces of construction equipment and multiple operators are presented. The developed method has the potential in automatically determining the spaces around vehicles that are currently not in the field-of-view of the vehicle operator thus providing eventually additional means and technology for improving safety in construction. 相似文献

The present work involves single-phase computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulations of continuous flow pump-mixer employing top-shrouded Rushton turbines with trapezoidal blades. Baffle—impeller interaction has been modeled using sliding mesh and multiple reference frame approaches. Standard k-ε model has been used for turbulence modeling. Several CFD runs representing different combinations of geometric and process parameters have been carried out. Results of CFD simulations have been used to find out two macroscopic performance parameters of pump-mixer—power consumption and head generated by the impeller. The simulation results have been compared with the experimental data obtained on a pilot-scale setup. Good agreement between CFD predictions and experimental results is observed. In most cases, sliding mesh approach is found to perform better than multiple reference frame approach. Examining the Effects of Conformal Terrain Features in Advanced Head‐Up Displays on Flight Performance and Pilot Situation Awareness 下载免费PDF全文
Synthetic vision systems (SVS) render terrain features for pilots through cockpit displays using a GPS database and three‐dimensional graphical models. Enhanced vision systems (EVS) present infrared imagery of terrain using a forward‐looking sensor in the nose of an aircraft. The ultimate goal of SVS and EVS technologies is to support pilots in achieving safety under low‐visibility and night conditions comparable to clear, day conditions. This study assessed pilot performance and situation awareness (SA) effects of SVS and EVS imagery in an advanced head‐up display (HUD) during a simulated landing approach under instrument meteorological conditions. Videos of the landing with various HUD configurations were presented to eight pilots with a superimposed tracking task. The independent variables included four HUD feature configurations (baseline [no terrain imagery], SVS, EVS, and a combination of SVS and EVS), two visibility conditions, and four legs of the flight. Results indicated that SVS increased overall SA but degraded flight path control performance because of visual confusion with other display features. EVS increased flight path control accuracy but decreased system (aircraft) awareness because of visual distractions. The combination of SVS and EVS generated offsetting effects. Display configurations did not affect pilot spatial awareness. Flight performance was not different among phases of the approach, but levels and types of pilot SA did vary from leg to leg. These results are applicable to development of adaptive HUD features to support pilot performance. 为适应窄带企业的可持续发展,成功开发出热轧窄带钢仿真系统工业软件。该软件基本涵盖了当前窄带生产中所涉及的诸如轧制负荷、尺寸精度、组织性能等主要技术问题,其中对窄带钢轧制压力的计算首次考虑了奥氏体再结晶软化程度的影响,使轧机负荷的预报精度明显提高;对轧制力矩的计算考虑了变形区几何参数对力臂系数的影响,使电机负荷的预报与实际更为接近。实际应用表明,对带钢头尾厚度差的预报以及给出的辊缝预设值均与现场实测非常接近,这对控制带钢的通条尺寸、提高窄带产品精度具有重要意义;对带钢轧后组织性能的预报与实测基本相符,这对改善窄带产品的组织性能具有重要参考价值。 相似文献
