The available aeromagnetic data together with information from some available wells have been used in the current study to shed the light on the geothermal setup of the Nile Delta Province. The aeromagnetic data was reduced-to-pole and critically analyzed using the Spectral Analysis Technique through the Fast Fourier Transform (FFT), to determine the expected depths to the Basement and Curie Point (CPD) surfaces. The geothermal gradient between CPD and earth's surface was estimated, and accordingly the heat flow was evaluated using the proposed thermal conductivity. Then, the Basement Surface Temperature (BST) was estimated, by which the geothermal gradient and heat flow for the igneous-rocky basement and sedimentary-rocky horizon was independently predicted. By which, it could be possible to distinguish between the heat flow contribution from each horizon separately. 相似文献

Much of our understanding of the events which underlie cell migration has been derived from studies of cells in tissue culture. One of the components that mediates this process is the dynamic actin-based microfilament system that can reorganize itself into so-called stress fibers that are considered essential components for cell motility. In contrast, relatively few studies have investigated cell movement along an extracellular matrix (ECM) which is known to influence both cellular organization and behavior. This opinion/viewpoint article briefly reviews cell migration during corneal endothelial wound repair along the tissue’s natural basement membrane, Descemet’s membrane. Because the tissue exists as a cell monolayer it affords one an opportunity to readily explore the effect of cell/matrix influences on cell motility. As such, cell movement along this substrate differs somewhat from that found in vitro and migrating endothelial cells also demonstrate an ability to move along the ECM without the benefit of having an organized actin cytoskeleton. 相似文献

Basements can influence indoor air quality by affecting air exchange rates (AERs) and by the presence of emission sources of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and other pollutants. We characterized VOC levels, AERs, and interzonal flows between basements and occupied spaces in 74 residences in Detroit, Michigan. Flows were measured using a steady‐state multitracer system, and 7‐day VOC measurements were collected using passive samplers in both living areas and basements. A walk‐through survey/inspection was conducted in each residence. AERs in residences and basements averaged 0.51 and 1.52/h, respectively, and had strong and opposite seasonal trends, for example, AERs were highest in residences during the summer, and highest in basements during the winter. Airflows from basements to occupied spaces also varied seasonally. VOC concentration distributions were right‐skewed, for example, 90th percentile benzene, toluene, naphthalene, and limonene concentrations were 4.0, 19.1, 20.3, and 51.0 μg/m3, respectively; maximum concentrations were 54, 888, 1117, and 134 μg/m3. Identified VOC sources in basements included solvents, household cleaners, air fresheners, smoking, and gasoline‐powered equipment. The number and type of potential VOC sources found in basements are significant and problematic, and may warrant advisories regarding the storage and use of potentially strong VOCs sources in basements. 相似文献

In residential building design, areaways can act as an open subsurface space to help improve the living environment in adjacent basements for residential purposes, mainly by wind-induced natural ventilation. The accurate prediction of effective air change rate is quite important; nevertheless so far little is known about this kind of ventilation issue. In order to acquire more knowledge in this field and make accurate ventilation predictions, direct measurement of ventilation rate was performed in this study using small-scale wind tunnel models. In the experiment, considering ventilation induced only by the exterior wind, we applied the constant tracer gas flow technique to measure the time-averaged ventilation rate for nine wind directions for each case. Furthermore, the relationships between the ventilation rate and a variety of parameters including wind direction, opening type, plan area of the areaway space and building coverage ratio, etc. were investigated and analyzed in detail. The findings of the present study can provide fundamental data for the design of areaway space in the urban residential buildings. 相似文献
