QD-Janus: A sequential implementation of Janus in Prolog

Janus is a language designed for distributed constraint programming. This paper describes QD-Janus, a sequential implementation of Janus in Prolog. The compiler uses a number of novel analyses and optimizations to improve the performance of the system. The choice of Prolog as the target language for a compiler, although unusual, is motivated by the following: (i) the semantic gap between Janus and Prolog is much smaller than that between Janus and, say, C or machine language—this simplifies the compilation process significantly, and makes it possible to develop a system with reasonable performance fairly quickly; (ii) recent progress in Prolog implementation techniques, and the development of Prolog systems whose speeds are comparable to those of imperative languages, indicates that the translation to Prolog need not entail a significant performance loss compared to native code compilers; and (iii) compilation to Prolog can benefit immediately from a significant body of work on, and implementations of, parallel Prolog systems. Our experience indicates that translation of logic programming languages to Prolog, accompanied by the development of good program analysis and optimization tools, is an effective way to quickly develop flexible and portable implementations with good performance and low cost.     

Adding Support for Persistence to CLOS via Its Metaobject Protocol

Language-level support for object persistence frees programmers from having to confront a broad class of database issues from within their applications. By virtue of its metaobject protocol, CLOS is a language whose semantics can be tailored by individual programmers. We used the metaobject protocol to extend CLOS with support for object persistence. Our goal was to obtain a version of CLOS with persistence to which we could easily port a commercial geometric CAD modeling system. We describe the design and implementation of our persistence extension and highlight the strengths and weaknesses exhibited by the CLOS metaobject protocol during our experiment. For many aspects of the implementation we found that the metaobject protocol was ideal. In other cases we had to choose among paying a large performance penalty, extending the protocol, and bypassing the protocol by modifying the language implementation directly.

浅谈在AutoCAD环境下的“母线”提取应用

随着AutoCAD在地形图中的应用,对其进行了二次开发,使其能方便的用于制图,有很多开发者喜欢用"块线型"来表示一些线状地物。作者通过自己分析AutoCAD三种不同类型的"母线"存放方式,总结出统一的"母线"提取办法。避免重新数字化的麻烦,大大的减少了工作量,节省了宝贵的时间,方便了作图,提高了工作效率。     

《建造合同》准则执行中的若干问题的思考

我国在1998年6月第一次发布了《建造合同》准则,2006年2月重新修订并发布了新的《建造合同》准则,新准则要求会计人员具有较高的业务素质和职业判断能力,并要求提高实务操作能力。文章结合江汉油建公司现行核算办法,分析了建造合同新的核算办法与江汉油建公司目前核算上存在的差异,并在此基础上提出了相应的解决措施。

The design and implementation of a session layer for delay-tolerant networks

The DTN architecture is based around sender-initiated unicast communication that is insufficient or inconvenient to meet the needs of many applications. To address these limitations, we define a DTN session layer and associated extensions to the DTN bundle protocol that more naturally support receiver-driven applications and multicast communication. Within a session, we provide mechanisms allowing applications to convey ordering relationships between successive transmissions that can be used by the network to help ensure a distributed application’s delivery ordering expectations are met. We also extend the bundle protocol’s expiration procedures to support more efficient network utilization by allowing in-network deletion of obsolete messages. We present the design rationale and describe our implementation of these mechanisms and discuss their advantages in meeting the needs of several popular types of applications.
