When translocated into wheat, the short arm of the 1R chromosome of rye carries with it linked resistance genes to powdery mildew, stripe rust, leaf rust and stem rust. The translocation is also reported to increase yield potential of hard wheats. However, many doughs made from some 1BL/1RS hard wheats are unacceptable for breadmaking purposes because of excessive stickiness and mixing intolerance. 1BL/1RS wheats may be sticky because of: the inheritance of secalin proteins from rye and absence of key glutenin subunits; higher amounts and/or differences in the composition of cell wall polysaccharides, β‐glucans and pentosans; and/or the presence of a ferulic acid ester moiety residing with the water‐soluble fraction of 1BL/1RS flours. None of these hypotheses has been proven or disproven, to date, as a cause of excessive stickiness. Investigators have found that 1BL/1RS doughs are not uniformly sticky and are in some instances less sticky than non‐1BL/1RS doughs. Significant genotype–environment interactions have been reported for dough stickiness and flour quality characteristics of 1BL/1RS wheats. Investigators have generally failed to find significant differences in the breadmaking performance of 1BL/1RS and non‐1BL/1RS hard wheats despite a report that 1BL/1RS doughs break down and soften during high‐speed mixing. The 1BL/1RS translocation has been shown to reduce cookie spread of soft wheat flours but has no deleterious effects on cake volume or texture. © 2002 Society of Chemical Industry 相似文献

Identification of critical erosion prone areas in the small agricultural watershed using USLE,GIS and remote sensing 总被引:10,自引:1,他引:9
In the present study, Karso watershed of Hazaribagh, Jharkhand State, India was divided into 200 × 200 grid cells and average
annual sediment yields were estimated for each grid cell of the watershed to identify the critical erosion prone areas of
watershed for prioritization purpose. Average annual sediment yield data on grid basis was estimated using Universal Soil
Loss Equation (USLE). In general, a major limitation in the use of hydrological models has been their inability to handle
the large amounts of input data that describe the heterogeneity of the natural system. Remote sensing (RS) technology provides
the vital spatial and temporal information on some of these parameters. A recent and emerging technology represented by Geographic
Information System (GIS) was used as the tool to generate, manipulate and spatially organize disparate data for sediment yield
modeling. Thus, the Arc Info 7.2 GIS software and RS (ERDAS IMAGINE 8.4 image processing software) provided spatial input
data to the erosion model, while the USLE was used to predict the spatial distribution of the sediment yield on grid basis.
The deviation of estimated sediment yield from the observed values in the range of 1.37 to 13.85 percent indicates accurate
estimation of sediment yield from the watershed. 相似文献

An investigation of the structure formation of as-cast Al-11 wt% Si (AlSi11) and Al-11 wt% Si-2 wt% Fe (AlSi11Fe2) rapidly solidified (RS) ribbons is performed. Ribbon samples are examined in detail using Auger electron spectroscopy (AES) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). A nanoscale thickness layer of Si-precipitations, at both Al-grains boundary and oxide/Al-matrix interface, is found to be characteristic for “pure” AlSi11 ribbons. For Fe-doped ribbons, this layer comprises Fe-containing phase also, which appears to possess amorphous nature and is situated between the Si-grains and Al-matrix. A possible mechanism of altering the thermally activated volume diffusion of elements, due to the effect of Fe on the structure modification, is speculated based on the obtained results. 相似文献
