This paper extends the algorithms which were developed in Part I to cases in which there is no affine schedule, i.e. to problems whose parallel complexity is polynomial but not linear. The natural generalization is to multidimensional schedules with lexicographic ordering as temporal succession. Multidimensional affine schedules, are, in a sense, equivalent to polynomial schedules, and are much easier to handle automatically. Furthermore, there is a strong connection between multidimensional schedules and loop nests, which allows one to prove that a static control program always has a multidimensional schedule. Roughly, a larger dimension indicates less parallelism. In the algorithm which is presented here, this dimension is computed dynamically, and is just sufficient for scheduling the source program. The algorithm lends itself to a divide and conquer strategy. The paper gives some experimental evidence for the applicability, performances and limitations of the algorithm.  相似文献

Lexical states in JavaCC provide a powerful mechanism to scan regular expressions in a context sensitive manner. But lexical states also make it hard to reason about the correctness of the grammar. We first categorize the related correctness issues into two classes: errors and warnings. We then extend the traditional context sensitive and a context insensitive analysis to identify errors and warnings in context‐free grammars. We have implemented these analyses as a standalone tool (LSA ), the first of its kind, to identify errors and warnings in JavaCC grammars. The LSA tool outputs a graph that depicts the grammar and the error transitions. Importantly, it can also generate counter example strings that can be used to establish the errors. We have used LSA to analyze a host of open‐source JavaCC grammar files to good effect. Copyright © 2015 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

A computational model is a computer program, which attempts to simulate an abstract model of a particular system. Computational models use enormous calculations and often require supercomputer speed. As personal computers are becoming more and more powerful, more laboratory experiments can be converted into computer models that can be interactively examined by scientists and students without the risk and cost of the actual experiments. The future of programming is concurrent programming. The threaded programming model provides application programmers with a useful abstraction of concurrent execution of multiple tasks. The objective of this release is to address the design of architecture for scientific application, which may execute as multiple threads execution, as well as implementations of the related shared data structures.

Phys. Comm. 181 (2010) 709Does the new version supersede the previous version?: YesNature of problem: Reflection high-energy electron diffraction (RHEED) is an important in-situ analysis technique, which is capable of giving quantitative information about the growth process of thin layers and its control. It can be used to calibrate growth rate, analyze surface morphology, calibrate surface temperature, monitor the arrangement of the surface atoms, and provide information about growth kinetics. Such control allows the development of structures where the electrons can be confined in space, giving quantum wells or even quantum dots. In order to determine the atomic positions of atoms in the first few layers, the RHEED intensity must be measured as a function of the scattering angles and then compared with dynamic calculations. The objective of this release is to address the design of architecture for application that simulates the rocking curves RHEED intensities during hetero-epitaxial growth process of thin films.Solution method: The GrowthCP is a complex numerical model that uses multiple threads for simulation of epitaxial growth of thin layers. This model consists of two transactional parts. The first part is a mathematical model being based on the Runge–Kutta method with adaptive step-size control. The second part represents first-principles of the one-dimensional RHEED computational model. This model is based on solving a one-dimensional Schrödinger equation. Several problems can arise when applications contain a mixture of data access code, numerical code, and presentation code. Such applications are difficult to maintain, because interdependencies between all the components cause strong ripple effects whenever a change is made anywhere. Adding new data views often requires reimplementing a numerical code, which then requires maintenance in multiple places. In order to solve problems of this type, the computational and threading layers of the project have been implemented in the form of one design pattern as a part of Model-View-Controller architecture.Reasons for new version: Responding to the users? feedback the Growth09 project has been upgraded to a standard that allows the carrying out of sample computations of the RHEED intensities for a disordered surface for a wide range of single- and epitaxial hetero-structures. The design pattern on which the project is based has also been improved. It is shown that this model can be effectively used for multithreaded growth simulations of thin epitaxial layers and corresponding RHEED intensities for a wide range of single- and hetero-structures. Responding to the users? feedback the present release has been implemented using a well-documented free compiler [1] not requiring the special configuration and installation additional libraries.Summary of revisions:
  • 1.
The logical structure of the Growth09 program has been modified according to the scheme showed in Fig. 1.1 The class diagram in Fig. 11 is a static view of the main platform-specific elements of the GrowthCP architecture. Fig. 21 provides a dynamic view by showing the creation and destruction simplistic sequence diagram for the process.

The program requires the user to provide the appropriate parameters in the form of a knowledge base for the crystal structures under investigation. These parameters are loaded from the parameters.ini files at run-time. Instructions to prepare the .ini files can be found in the new distribution.
  • 3.
The program enables carrying out different growth models and one-dimensional dynamical RHEED calculations for the fcc lattice with basis of three-atoms, fcc lattice with basis of two-atoms, fcc lattice with single atom basis, Zinc-Blende, Sodium Chloride, and Wurtzite crystalline structures and hetero-structures, but yet the Fourier component of the scattering potential in the TRHEEDCalculations.crystPotUgXXX() procedure can be modified and implemented according to users? specific application requirements. The Fourier component of the scattering potential of the whole crystalline hetero-structures can be determined as a sum of contributions coming from all thin slices of individual atomic layers. To carry out one-dimensional calculations of the scattering potentials, the program uses properly constructed self-consistent procedures.

Each component of the system shown in Figs. 11 and 21 is fully extendable and can easily be adapted to new changeable requirements. Two essential logical elements of the system, i.e. TGrowthTransaction and TRHEEDCalculations classes, were designed and implemented in this way for them to pass the information to themselves without the need to use the data-exchange files given. In consequence each of them can be independently modified and/or extended. Implementing other types of differential equations and the different algorithm for solving them in the TGrowthTransaction class does not require another implementation of the TRHEEDCalculations class. Similarly, implementing other forms of scattering potential and different algorithm for RHEED calculation stays without the influence on the TGrowthTransaction class construction.
Unusual features: The program is distributed in the form of main project GrowthCP.lpr, with associated files, and should be compiled using Lazarus IDE. The program should be compiled with English/USA regional and language options.Running time: The typical running time is machine and user-parameters dependent.References:

Management of program data to improve data locality and reduce false sharing is critical for scaling performance on NUMA shared memory multiprocessors. We use HPF-like data decomposition directives to partition and place arrays in data-parallel applications on Hector, a shared-memory NUMA multiprocessor. We describe a compiler system for automating the partitioning and placement of arrays. The compiler exploits Hectors shared memory architecture to efficiently implement distributed arrays. Experimental results from a prototype implementation demonstrate the effectiveness of these techniques. They also demonstrate the magnitude of the performance improvement attainable when our compiler-based data management schemes are used instead of operating system data management policies; performance improves by up to a factor of 5.  相似文献

Minimizing data communication over processors is the key to compile programs for distributed memory multicomputers. In this paper, we propose new data partition and alignment techniques for partitioning and aligning data arrays with a program in a way of minimizing communication over processors. We use skewed alignment instead of the dimension-ordered alignment techniques to align data arrays. By developing the skewed scheme, we can solve more complex programs with minimized data communication than that of the dimension-ordered scheme. Finally, we compare the proposed scheme with the dimension-ordered alignment one by experimental results. The experimental results show that our proposed scheme has more opportunities to align data arrays such that data communications over processors can be minimized.  相似文献

Loop tiling (or loop blocking) is a well-known loop transformation to improve temporal locality in nested loops which perform matrix computations. When targeting caches that have low associativities, one of the key challenges for loop tiling is to simultaneously minimize capacity misses and conflict misses. This paper analyzes the effect of the tile size and the array-dimension size on capacity misses and conflict misses. The analysis supports the approach of combining tile-size selection (to minimize capacity misses) with array padding (to minimize conflict misses).  相似文献

Multi‐core systems equipped with micro processing units and accelerators such as digital signal processors (DSPs) and graphics processing units (GPUs) have become a major trend in processor design in recent years in attempts to meet ever‐increasing application performance requirements. Open Computing Language (OpenCL) is one of the programming languages that include new extensions proposed to exploit the computing power of these kinds of processors. Among the newly extended language features, the single‐instruction multiple‐data (SIMD) linguistics and vector types are added to OpenCL to exploit hardware features of the accelerators. The addition makes it necessary to consider how traditional compiler data flow analysis can be adopted to meet the optimization requirements of vector linguistics. In this paper, we propose a calculus framework to support the data flow analysis of vector constructs for OpenCL programs that compilers can use to perform SIMD optimizations. We model OpenCL vector operations as data access functions in the style of mathematical functions. We then show that the data flow analysis for OpenCL vector linguistics can be performed based on the data access functions. Based on the information gathered from data flow analysis, we illustrate a set of SIMD optimizations on OpenCL programs. The experimental results incorporating our calculus and our proposed compiler optimizations show that the proposed SIMD optimizations can provide average performance improvements of 22% on x86 CPUs and 4% on advanced micro devices GPUs. For the selected 15 benchmarks, 11 of them are improved on x86 CPUs, and six of them are improved on advanced micro devices GPUs. The proposed framework has the potential to be used to construct other SIMD optimizations on OpenCL programs. Copyright © 2015 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献
