Due to increasing oil and gas demand, the depletion of fossil resources, serious global warming, efficient energy systems and new energy conversion processes are urgently needed. Fuel cells and hybrid systems have emerged as advanced thermodynamic systems with great promise in achieving high energy/power efficiency with reduced environmental loads. In particular, due to the synergistic effect of using integrated solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC) and classical thermodynamic cycle technologies, the efficiency of the integrated system can be significantly improved. This paper reviews different concepts/strategies for SOFC-based integration systems, which are timely transformational energy-related technologies available to overcome the threats posed by climate change and energy security.  相似文献

The decomposition of H2SO4 to produce SO2 is the reaction with the highest energy demand in the sulfur-iodine cycle and it shows a large kinetic barrier. In the present study, alumina supported iron (III) oxide has been chosen for a detailed kinetic study. Experiments were carried out in the temperature range of 1023 K–1173 K using space hour velocities in the range of 0.146–0.731 kmol/kg-h in a quartz tube double stage continuous flow fixed bed reactor with 98% sulfuric acid feed over alumina supported Fe2O3 catalyst, nitrogen as inert carrier gas. From the homogeneous kinetic analysis, the apparent activation energy (EA) was found to be 138.6 kJ/mol. This high activation energy indicates that the experiments were conducted in a kinetic controlled regime. The catalyst was well characterized by XRD, BET, TPR/TPO, SEM and FT-IR before and after reaction.  相似文献

Michael M. Merzenich received the 2001 Award for Distinguished Scientific Contributions. His accomplishments include (1) clarifying our understanding of the traditional 'S-I' cortex by demonstrating that each of its four cytoarchitectonic areas contains a separate representation of the body; (2) providing the first demonstrations of plasticity in the adult primate brain following peripheral nerve injury, altering the landscape of behavioral neuroscience; (3) being the first to suggest that this injury-induced plasticity relies on mechanisms that are responsible for normal learning-related changes in the somatosensory system, spawning a search for the mechanisms if plasticity in the adult brain that is now arguably the central focus of neuroscience; and (4) taking the principles derived from his work on plasticity and applying them to help improve speech reception and recognition in children with speech-processing difficulties.
