Design of a Tree Ring Structure Analysis System
to Estimate the Accurate Age of Tree

Determination of an age in a particular tree species can be considered as a vital factor in forest management. In this research we have introduced a novel scheme to determine the accurate age of the tree species in Sri Lanka. This is initially developed for the tree species called‘Hora’ (Dipterocarpus zeylanicus ) in wet zone of Sri Lanka. Here the core samples are extracted and further analyzed by means of the different image processing techniques such as Gaussian kernel blurring, use of Sobel filters, double threshold analysis ,Hough line transformation and etc. The operations such as rescaling, slicing and measuring are also used in line with image processing techniques to achieve the desired results. Ultimately a Graphical user interface (GUI) is developed to cater for the user requirements in a user friendly envi-ronment. It has been found that the average growth ring identification accuracy of the proposed system is 93% and the overall average accuracy of detecting the age is 81%. Ultimately the proposed system will provide an insight and contributes to the forestry related activities and researches in Sri Lanka. 相似文献

This paper points out that the fusional limits of binocular stereoscopic viewing are an important factor, not only determining the reproduction range of stereoscopic images, but also the conformity between the stereoscopic display and stereoscopic vision. Experimental results showed that fusional limits increase in proportion to the field of view angle, and that they are affected not only by the size of the viewing target, but also by the effects that the environment has on the target. These findings explain the differences between binocular vision in real space and binocular vision in a stereoscopic display. Finally, the conditions under which observers arc able to view images of stereoscopic displays without excessive visual strain are discussed. 相似文献

Obtaining an accurate and precise depth map is the ultimate goal for 3D shape recovery. For depth map estimation, one of the most vital parts is the initial selection of the focus measure and processing the images with the selected focus measure. Although, many focus measures have been proposed in the literature but not much attention has been paid to the factors affecting those focus measures as well as the manner the images are processed with those focus measures. In this paper, for accurate calculation of depth map, we consider the effects of illumination on the depth map as well as the selection of the window size for application of the focus measures. The resulting depth map can further be used in techniques and algorithms leading to recovery of three-dimensional structure of the object which is required in many high-level vision applications. It is shown that the illumination effects can directly result in incorrect estimation of depth map if proper window size is not selected during focus measure computation. Further, it is shown that the images need some kind of pre-processing to enhance the dark regions and shadows in the image. For this purpose, an adaptive enhancement algorithm is proposed for pre-processing. In this paper, we prove that without such pre-processing for image enhancement and without the use of proper window size for the estimation of depth maps, it is not possible to obtain the accurate depth map. 相似文献

运动模糊图像恢复讨论的是对运动物体所拍摄的模糊图像进行精确恢复,恢复的关键在于精确获取点扩展函数的参数。本文提出了一种点扩展函数自动获取方法,该方法通过计算机分析运动模糊图像频谱图,能够自动获取点扩展函数的运动方向和模糊长度,避免了人机交互的繁琐和不准确。通过实验仿真并与其他点扩展函数的参数获取方法做比较,验证了该方法的准确性和实用性。 相似文献
