Abstract:
The fused deposition modeling(FDM)technology has being widely used due to its advantages such as rapid prototyping and utilization of high strength plastics(Nylon PA,PEEK,etc).Studies have shown that in the polymer extrusion process,vibration can increase the extrusion flow rate under the same die pressure(or reduce the required die pressure while keeping the same extrusion flow rate).In order to improve the printing speed,vibration-assisted printing method is proposed,and the FDM 3 Dprinter head integrated with ultrasonic transducer is designed.The structure of the printer head is optimized by COMSOL Multiphysics finite element software.A printer head prototype is fabricated and tested.The extrusion test results show that high frequency vibration can effectively reduce the flow resistance of pure ABS and 15 wt%carbon fiber-PLA and increase the printing speed.
