The Board of Directors announces that 2,513 persons were elected to initial membership in the American Psychological Association as of January 1, 1972. Of these, 1,682 were elected as Members, and 831 as Associate members. Though not all of them have validated their election by payment of initial dues, all but a few will eventually do so. In addition, in accordance with Article II, Section 8, of the Bylaws, 355 Associate members were transferred to Member status as of January 1, 1972. By special action, the Board of Directors announces that Helen Orr, long-time Managing Editor of APA Publications, was granted dues-exempt Member status as of September 5, 1971.
