Abstract: | ![]() A titanium stabilized 321 grade austenitic stainless steel was exposed to hydrogen at 14 MPa pressure and at 873 K. Hydrogen attack occurred in the form of small bubbles at alloy-carbide-matrix interfaces. The damaged regions were studied by transmission electron microscopy, and the gas composition in the bubbles was analyzed. The results are discussed in terms of a thermodynamic analysis of possible hydrogen attack reactions. |
