A methodological study of interface extension of USB in FPGA

As USB interface takes away a large part of the capacity, FPGA devices are usually designed not to contain a USB port. This paper presents a creative approach to the extension of a USB port in FPGA devices, which includes the interface design, the debugging methods and the measured waveform. The approach introduced is illustrated through a discussion of the USB interface extension in EZ-USB FX2/CY7C68013A generated by by Cypress. The experiment results confirms the effectiveness of the approach in realizing the transfer of data from a PC to FPGA with a USB interface.
