| Abstract: | The research and practice of CIMS and FMS has brought about a great development to advanced manufacturing systems for decades. The experience of failure and success during the process of development is a revelation and reference for the design of a fault diagnosis system. This paper focuses on its function of directing to the design of a fault diagnosis system in terms of the flexibility of the system, the human's importance in the system, and the design of a distributed system. In view of the tendency of CIMS and FMS, the article also states the principle that the new fault diagnosis system should be improved by enhancing hardware in software, remote Internet service, and sustainable development. |
