Soft Architecture

A leading Dutch theorist and architect, Lars Spuybroek (principal of NOX) pushes architecture in incredibly improbable, winding, curving, globular directions. Influenced by neurology and philosophy, and ever-more intricate computer modeling, he researches whether building movement can more comfortably reflect body movement. In his design the operative idea is no longer that form follows function, etc; it's a unified system, from system to flexibility to rigidity to morphology. His projects thus lead to "soft" architectural biomorphs. The aim of this paper is to help us reconsider the existed concepts in the architecture, and to benefit to us understand digital architecture.
