Analysis of Power Supply Shortages in Cameroon |

| Abstract: | Since 2002,Cameroon has suffered from intense and repeated electricity shortages,in spite of its impressive hydro-electricity potential.This deterioration of power supply coincides with the privatization of Cameroon's sole electric- ity supply Company SONEL,which was taken over in 2001 by American power company AES Corporation.The important factors in explaining the power shortages are introduced in this paper,followed by the analysis of various options consid- ered for addressing the predicted shortfall. |
