摘    要:
H.264和MPEG-4是新一代的视频压缩编码标准。详细讨论了这两个标准的编码结构和编码特点,针对这两个标准在流媒体以及视频会议应用中的不同性能,选取标准测试序列进行测试,根据标准测试序列的实验结果,对这两个标准的编码性质进行了量化的比较。得出同一码率下,MPEG-4不如H.264的性能优良,但MPEG-4是实现基于内容的压缩编码,其良好的兼容性、可靠性和灵活性,也有其不可忽略的作用,两种编码的各自特点决定了他们的应用领域。

Abstract:
H.264 and MPEG-4 are standards of new generation's video compression and coding technologies.The structures and characteristics of these two coding standards are discussed thoroughly.Testing data are made under the standard test sequence for the performances of these two standards in the areas of fluid medium and video meetings.Based on the simulation results of the standard testing data,quantified comparisons between these two standards' coding characteristics are made.The result shows that MPEG-4 is inferior to H.264 under the same coding rate,but MPEG-4 is a compression and coding technology which realized by content,it can't be ignored for it boast the characteristics of excellent compatibility,reliability and flexibility.The application fields of these two coding technologies are decided by their different characteristics.
