Abstract: | Failure of ceramics at high temperatures Failure of ceramic materials at high temperatures is very complicated. At low temperatures the failure of ceramics is governed by subcritical crack growth under quasistatic and cyclic loads. In the high temperature region the effects of creep crack growth and creep fracture have to be considered, too. The main part of the paper is addressed to the effects of subcritical crack growth and creep crack growth. The application of the fracture mechanical C*-concept is discussed in detail. |
