Abstract: | Liquid-liquid direct-contact heat transfer in a spray column was studied numerically for a low hold-up. The solutions of the conservation equations of mass, momentum and energy for both phases agree well with earlier experimental results, if one assumes a rigid liquid-liquid interface. Heat transfer inside is dominated by transient conduction and natural convection. It was found that the Nusselt number for free convection depends essentially only on the Rayleigh number. |
