Of 10 homosexual men who voluntarily entered treatment and remained in combined therapy for 2 or more yr., all report improved general adjustment. 3 report satisfactory heterosexual adjustment, 3 hope to achieve it eventually. Advantages of combined therapy include: dissolution of rationalizations about homosexuality, development of a stronger sense of personal identity through contact with women and heterosexual men, emergence of hitherto unconscious anxieties related to their heterosexual drives, and corrective emotional experiences, often resulting in enhanced self-esteem.
