Abstract: | Forward and reverse diffusion through heterogeneous membranes with position-dependent diffusivity, partition coefficient and reaction rate constant are considered. The reciprocity of the lag time is proved, utilizing the symmetry of the corresponding Green' function with respect to the exchange of the coordinate arguments. Simple relations between the permeabilities, reactive diffusion fluxes and total released amounts for forward and reverse diffusion direction are derived. |
