| Abstract: | Chemi-thermo-mechanical pulps, often refereed as high yield pulps (HYP), have extensive used in multi-ply board, wood-free papers, tissues, fluff pulps and other specialty papers. This paper gives an overview of HYP processes, development, capacity and worldwide installations. Wood fiber characteristics and suitability for HYP are discussed as well as the pulp quality and end uses. The general practices and new development in HYP effluent treatment are also discussed. |
