| Abstract: | A simple rainfall intensity formula (RIF) for Singapore is proposed. Basically, it is derived from the Intensity–Duration–Frequency (IDF) curves. By applying the least squares method, the parameters of the RIF are optimised. It is convenient to apply the improved formula for programming and practical applications, compared with the conventional method of checking the IDF curves. The results furnished by the proposed formula are in very good agreement with those obtained from the IDF curves. |
