THE RELATION BETWEEN THE GROWTH OF CUCUMBER GROWN IN GREENHOUSE AND ITS YIELD FORMATION

The relation between the growth of cucumber grown in the greenhouse and its yield formation was investigated. The plant growth rate was closely related to the rate of increase in its leaf areas in vegetative stage. The plants developed a strong root system and active photosynthetic areas in vegetative growth stage, which is very important basis for yield formation of cucumber in fruiting stage. Vegetative growth of cucumber is nearly equal to its reproduction growth in fruiting early stage. In the active fruiting stage, roots, stems and leaves of the plant grow slowly, but the fruits grow rapidly, also the amount of assimilation peaked.Yield formation was affected by the transportability of the plant assimilation and its deposit capacity of fruit.
