In order to do well the planing of the middle and the lower reaches of Lancangjiang River, the Kunming Investigation and Design Institute has conducted a bold and serious exploration in the planing so that the planning of the reaches can reflect the guiding thoughts of taking the actual conditions into account and making full use of the advantages of resources to vigorously develop the economy in Yunnan Province and to quicken the construction of four modernizations. At present, the Dachaoshan Hydro Station will be completed and put into operation soon and the Xiaowan Hydro Station will start to be constructed, which marks that the hydropower development in Yunnan Province will enter a new stage. It is necessary to sum up the Planning of Middle and Lower Reaches of Lancangjiang River, which can provide some useful experience for further doing the hydropower planning in Yunnan Province well.
