Abstract: | ![]() In the vicinity of a cathode where hydrogen evolution takes place, an increase of the pH-value is observed. If the solubility product of a metal hydroxide is reached in the diffusion layer or at the surface of the electrode there can be a precipitation of metal hydroxide. The kinetics of formation of Ni(OH)2 layers at the surface of a rotating-disc electrode as a function of current density, composition of the electrolyte and thickness of the diffusion layer is being studied in the present paper. |
