Abstract:The effect of Fe2O3 content in gunning material for blast furnace on its resistance to carbon monoxide (CO) is described. The reaction mechanism of the carbon disposition in refractories is analyzed. The results of the study show that the resistance to CO decreases rapidly with increasing of the Fe2O3 content. Therefore, the reduce of theFe2O3 content raises the ability of resistance to CO, and prolongs the campaign life of the gunning layer. Simultaneously, a new method to test the resistance to CO with compressive strength is given.
