黄河是我国西北、华北地区的重要水源。随着流域经济社会的发展 ,对黄河水资源的需求不断增加 ,供需矛盾日趋尖锐。 90年代以来 ,黄河下游断流现象日趋严重 ,引起了各级领导的高度重视和社会各界的广泛关注。展望 2 1世纪 ,黄河水资源将成为流域经济发展、社会进步的制约因素。建设南水北调西线工程 ,促进黄河水资源的可持续利用 ,对黄河流域乃至西北及华北地区经济社会的可持续发展和生态环境的改善具有重大的战略意义

Sustainable water resources usage of Yellow river and west route project of water transfer from south to north

Yellow river is the main water source in northwest and north of China. With the development of basin economy and society, water demands to Yellow river are increasing and the conflict between water supply and demand becomes more acute. Since 1990, the cut-off in the lower Yellow river is getting more serious. It has drawn the attentions of society. In 21st century, water resources of Yellow river will be the restriction to economy development and society progress in the basin. Construction of west route project of water transfer from South to North will promote the sustainable usage of water resources of Yellow river. It also has strategic significance to the economy and society sustainable development and entironment in Yellow river basin, northwest and north of china.
