A Method of Image Compression Based on Wavelet Transform

Quantization plays an important role in image compression. A new image compression based on the gradual quantization is proposed from the view of scalar quantization, which can reduce the encoding rate greatly on the promise of guaranteeing some certain image quality. Finally the process of the image compression is depicted by example analysis, and the new algorithm is tested by classical image.The result approves the correctness and the practicability of the method.
