Research training for clinical psychologists: Point–counterpoint.

Reviews the history of the controversy over training models for clinical psychologists. The arguments against research training and a research dissertation (e.g., research training dilutes clinical training, costs more than clinical training, and is not relevant or needed) are presented, and rebuttals are offered.
