Abstract:This paper proposed an application scheme in which the EPON technology is used in building process level communication system of a smart substation.And analyses the business of communication system in smart substation process level,and also gives a comparative analysis of EPON and traditional industrial Ethernet switch technology,a simulation system has been built to probe the SV transmission and GOOSE transmission performance,and the SV transmission dispersion,GOOSE transmission delay time is researched using network message recorder and analyzer.The result shows that EPON technology can not be used in building process level network of smart substation because it can't meet the application requirements.The research work is a great practical significance exploration of smart grid and smart substation development.
