Practice and Prospect of Electricity Market Reform in Yunnan

Due to the high renewable penetration and reverse distribution of load and energy, Yunnan Province is in the forefront of the country in terms of renewable energy consumption and market participation. Therefore, the path and experience of Yunnan Province has important implications for other provinces. By taking the state quo of power grid operation and electricity market construction in Yunnan Province as background, we summarized the reform history and practice experience of Yunnan Province. Firstly, the general situation of Yunnan electricity market is introduced, and the development process of Yunnan electricity market is analyzed with the trading varieties and changes of main market players as the main line. And then, based on the existing trading model and mechanism of Yunnan Province, the innovative mechanism design of Yunnan market trading, including incentive mechanism and multi-energy complementarity, is analyzed. Finally, based on the actual situation, we put forward relevant suggestions for Yunnan to improve the mid-to-long-term trading mechanism, promote the spot market, and explore the retail market in the future.
