Abstract: | The process of electron beam welding of stainless steel in a strong magnetic field is investigated. It is shown to be possible to suppress the fluctuations of the penetration depth in the root part of the welded joint in electron beam welding of non-magnetic metals and alloys. The fluctuations are suppressed by restricting the penetration depth by rotating the electron beam. A permanent dipole magnet with a rapidly decreasing magnetic field is used to distort the trajectories of the electron beam and rotate it. |
